Texas repeats as national champion in merchandising
UT sells more gear than Notre Dame, Florida and everyone else

The University of Florida may have won both the football and men's basketball national championships last season, but when it came to selling merchandise, the Gators could finish no better than third behind the No.1-ranked University of Texas.

For the second straight year, Texas topped the Collegiate Licensing Company's clients in collecting royalties. Notre Dame placed second, followed by Florida, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Penn State.

Rounding out CLC's top 25 were Louisiana State, Florida State, Auburn, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina, Kansas, Duke, Oklahoma State and Minnesota. Although it ranked 58th, Texas Christian was CLC's biggest mover, jumping up 12 spots from last year.

I'm calling shinanigans on this list. You mean to tell me that Ohio State didn't place in the top 25 after going to both National Championships, the biggest hyped college basketball player, and the Heisman trophy winner, but Clemson, Illinois and Arkansas did? I bet Ohio State sold more in Oden jerseys and Final Four gear than all of Clemon put together.

edit: I looked into it and Ohio State isn't licensed the same way these schools are. They are licensed by themselves and the CLPA

Well even if we fell over the years at least we're still in solid at merch in there, heh.

Geez. I went to Target the other day and saw a cute Texas Longhorn cheerleading outfit for my 4yr-old daughter. The price? Almost $30! WTH? UT needs the bloody money THAT bad? No thanks!
