I don't know if this is old news, but there is a note at the end of this blog from the Houston Chronicle. Mods please delete if posted previously

Just in case anyone's keeping track, Vassilis Spanoulis has signed a three-year contract to rejoin his old team, Panathinaikos, in Athens.

On Aaron Brooks, PG 6'0" 161 lbs:

Been on the bandwagon every since his first summer league game. I watched every game on NBA TV Broadband. Like I told Ms. Anna Meagan he has the present game of Iverson, T.Parker, and Chris Paul, with the old school game of Isiah Thomas but with more athleticism, and a better shot from beyond 22 feet. Quick, with a shot, how do you defend him, you can't. Kidd and Kobe told Aaron Brooks the most important thing he could here from anyone about his basketball career,
"BE CONFIDENT". If Aaron"SweetFeet"Brooks listens to the greatness that has spoken to him, he will be the point guard of the future; Not just the Rockets, but the NBA's future.

What are people in Houston drinking? Should we just go ahead and make him an all star?

On VSpan:
The contract Vassilis signed was for 3 years and €5,000,000 (equivalent to $6,742,807 US dollars at the time). Spanoulis' agent set up the contract so that Vassilis could opt out of it after one year. Spanoulis stated that after the first year of his contract he might opt out of it and return to San Antonio, Tx to play with the Spurs again in the NBA, as the Spurs still would like his services. Spanoulis is interested in returning to play with them for the 2008-2009 season, but could not play with them during the 2007-2008 year because of his mother's poor health.

((I did not post the the Insports link, because it's no longer working, so I'm wondering if their release of that article was a little premature.))

Hmm. Again, no release notification on the Spurs web site. He CANNOT sign another contract until he clears this one.

Any thought that the Spurs could give a big fat shit about Billy-boy and wouldn't even bother with a press release about a buy-out?

It's not just the Spurs site, although that's what I mentioned. The NBA has a page for all off season roster transactions, trades, signings and buyouts, and it's not there, either. I wish people would stop posting wishful shit from gyros.com that's he's signed somewhere when he clearly can't yet. Do I think it will happen? Sure. Just not until his situation with the Spurs is resolved.

Spanoulis can sign a contract with a Greek team. When a player sign a contract with a team, the team send it to the FIBA and the FIBA checked that the player isn't under contract with another team.
If Spanoulis has signed a contract and Panthinaikos hasn't send it to the FIBA for the moment and/or there is a clause in this contract saying that it will start when Spanoulis will be release from the nba, I don't think that it's illegal.

Perhaps it's something like the "offer sheet" that NBA restricted FAs sign, that, under certain circumstances becomes a contract.
