Now let's make sure they don't get shutout next game, since its a doubleheader! :lol

Hopefully they didn't all blow their wads in game one.

Thanks for showing up, O's.

Try to get that Ranger average below 16 during the next game.

Damn, can you still buy one game from MLB.TV? You could do it last season. I didn't get to watch the entire game and would like to do so, it's one of the few things I have to hang onto this season.

There is nothing in my box, sadly.

They saved up all of that offensive frustration dealt by Santana and Bedard and bukkaked all over the O's today.

Is anyone else worried about game 2? It's about to start, on TW Channel 50 if anyone in SA wants to watch. Lots of records fell today so I will actually be watching baseball tonight for a bit.

The funniest thing that happened today, was Littleton getting a save in a 30-3 game.

I got Michael Young on my fantasy team...

2/4 with a run scored...how in the fuck?

#@$$%$% it's not even my closer that got the #@$$@$%# save.

Eriks used Jarrod Saltalasjahfjhsad to outscore my entire team so far today.

When something like this happens and you have to follow it up, it's almost a guarantee you'll lose. At least they don't have to see Bedard tonight.

Did the O's fans give the pitcher a standing O for getting the side out in order to start the 2nd game? That was pretty funny.

Yeah, they did! :lol

And I have Salty as my backup catcher and started him today hoping he would have a decent day due to doubleheader. Even w/o playing the 2nd game, I will take his production. 5 runs, 7 rbi :elephant

Melmart1
08-22-2007, 08:18 PM
Hahaha, they are booing sammy bad. I remember booing him in Arlington as an Oriole. All of his balls were a good 10 feet shy of a home run so I started screaming "warning traaaaaack" everytime he came up. Now he is a Ranger and I have to hope he does well :(

Melmart1
08-22-2007, 08:19 PM
Well, Sammy gets a single. At least now we know the Rangers won't get no-hit after scoring 30 runs. :lol

BeerIsGood!
08-22-2007, 08:22 PM
Another thing from that 1st game - it looks like Gabbard is starting to be a pretty good pickup as a rotation guy. The Rangers just may have given it to someone on a trade for a change instead of getting bent over like usual.

Not to mention that Murphy has been awesome every game he has played as a Ranger. Beltre got promoted from rookie to a-short season and has been pounding it out pretty well.

Oh, and all three are under Ranger control for awhile. Not bad for a two-month rental. :)

whottt
08-22-2007, 08:39 PM
Rangers need 4 more runs to set the all time record for runs scored by one team in a single day...the Cubs hold the record with 36...which is also the all time record for most runs scred in a game by one team....and the game they did that in was the last time a team scored 30 runs in a game...that game in 1897 mentioned earlier.

whottt
08-22-2007, 08:40 PM
I don't know what's more amazing...30 runs in a game...

Or back when I was a kid and Toby Harrah played both ends of a double header at SS and didn't record a single assist or PO....

whottt
08-22-2007, 08:42 PM
Hmmmm...the Cubs went onto be the all time leader in WS wins after that...

Melmart1
08-22-2007, 08:42 PM
Whats amazing is the Rangers on your fantasy team didn't get much out of 30 runs :lol

You tell me the Rangers score 30 runs in a single game, I would bet cash money that Michael Young had at least 4 rbi out of that.

whottt
08-22-2007, 08:45 PM
I know...he didn't even have one RBI. It was the 4-9 hitters that did all that damage.

What's really amazing is that they were scoreless in that game until the 5th inning I think. Holy cow.

Whew...I had to check that boxscore to make sure my Orioles reliever wasn't a part of that nuking. That would have sucked.

The Funniest part....

TEXAS RANGERS
Runs Scored - Runs Against
616-652

And that's AFTER the 30-3!!!

BeerIsGood!

I wish that would have tatooed the Yanks even half as bad at least once this year.

That would be the big reason they aren't in the PO race. Recently they have pitched well fairly consistently but haven't gotten any consistent offense at all.

the funny thing is, just yesterday a couple hours before the game, local radio guys on The Ticket in Dallas were blasting hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and calling for him to be fired, and talking about how this team is completely inept at hitting on the road.......and then this happens. :lol

I wonder if this can be counted as part of the BaD radio curse. Because they DO have some valid points about why Rudy is an incredibly overrated hitting coach......and for them to rightfully call him out just hours before the Rangers set the modern day record for runs scored in a game.....haha i think it's the curse.

I believe in 1996, we scored 26 runs on the Orioles in the ballpark. I think that was the year we went to the playoffs. It was around that time. I don't beleive we will see 30-3 again. I think it's far beyond saying that's a football score. :lol

quirky facts

Rangers were shutout more innings than they scored in 5-4

O's actually had 11 strike outs

Rangers' Littleton picks up first save of season (how is that possible, what is ruling on Saves?)

Baltimore Ravens haven't allowed 30 points since Week 12 in 2005.

The last two teammates to have 7 RBI's in same game, 1962, Mantle and Howard (Yanks)

6th time team has had two 9+ plus innings

O's only used 4 pitchers

Team ERA dropped 7th to 10th in one game for O's

When Littleton came into the game, he didn't lose the lead and pitched effectively for three innings. The scorer has the discretion to award the save based on that.

Johnny_Blaze_47

Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- (c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game."
