With the signing of Ian and Ime the Spurs are over the luxury tax threshold. I really dont see the Spurs paying the Luxury Tax even though they paid it last year. I assume they are going to wait to see how Ime plays and make sure that TP stays healthy and then right before the trade deadline trade Brent Barry or Beno Udrich for some cap relief to get underneath the threshold. Does anybody see the Spurs paying the Luxury Tax for that Ian can ride the pine or play for the Toros? There is no way Ian makes any type of impact this year. Were the Spurs forced to sign him? Was he threatening to sign a long-term contract with a Eurapean team like Scola if they didnt sign him this year? If they were going to pay the luxury tax all along why didnt they sign Luis Scola? This bullshit that he cant play alongside Tim Duncan makes no sense. Tim Duncan is a center no matter what he is listed as or what he calls himself.

yes. he was riding the pine in the euro league. better for him to be practicing with the spurs players and staff than some random club in europe. plus ians tax number is only about 800k give or take. its not like hes whats breaking the bank.

nope. he wasnt even getting any PT on his euro club.

dont know. only the spurs and scola know the reason. maybe scola wanted more PT (my bet). maybe the spurs didnt want to pay him. maybe the spurs didnt want him at all. who knows. i can at least tell you that none of us know the reason.

the argument of playing along side tim has nothing to do with the position they are listed at, but their style of play. scola doesnt have a jump shot, he isnt the type of player who gets his points through hustle plays, and he doesnt play great defense. scola needs touches in the low post to be affective. and why post up scola when you could just as easily give it to tim? not that i entirely agree with this reasoning (i do partly), but thats the reasoning behind it.
as for trading barry, unless it makes the team better, the spurs probably wont be making any deadline moves (unless both vaughn continues to impress and udoka really steps up). the spurs have paid the tax the last two seasons IIRC, dont see why they wouldnt pay it this year too. not saying its impossible, just unlikely.
i am wondering why you think they wont pay it this year, as opposed to last year?

Why are you obsessed with the Spurs' salary situation? Every single post you have made concerns itself with that topic. WGAF unless you are Peter Holt?
