Replacing Ballast

A ballast is one of those things you have in your abode that you never knew you had until you needed to replace it. It is actually an easy repair even though there are an impressive number of wires to reconnect (eight). It was buzzing loud enough to bother my wife so she started bothering me until I gave in. Well, I didn't know the thing that was buzzing was called a ballast, but it's good to learn something new once in a while. It was actually quite hot to touch, so I suppose it was good to replace it anyway.

Those things smell HORRIBLE if the meltdown! God that is a terrible stench.

It's usually harder getting to the ballast than actually replacing it...
