Why did it suddenly lose all my bookmarks and asking for users, etc? It just reverted back to like when I first installed it.

I am not happy about this.

How long ago did you install it?

couple of months ago and I have 1.0

I didn't do anything different. All I did was open it and it popped up this window about something about a default user. I've never seen that before. I was able to get most off my bookmarks again from IE (I still have to use that with my bank's website), but now I have play around with it again to get it how I had it.

Hmmmm, couple of months ago....

You know, in computer years, a couple if months is a really long time. And you know, as things get older they tend to forget things.

Shelly try and download the new version. That might fix your problem. This has not happened to me and I have it on several computers.

Are you signed on to your computer as the same user account?

Isn't that 1.0? That's what I have.

??? I've never had to sign on with a user account. I just clicked on the icon and it goes to my home page. FWIW, I just got offline probably a minute before this happened. I never logged off my computer.

Hmmm.... Did it happen after you upgraded? Very strange Shelly. I have not seen that happen before.

I upgrade as soon as 1.0 came out, which was what, a few weeks ago? This happened today.

My computer is possessed, Mr. Devil. :cuss

Well, the closer you get the computer, the older it gets. That's just the way it is these days.

It's happened to me occasionally. I just find that a normal backup of your profiles folder makes things a lot easier.

Where is that? This is the first time I've ever seen a profile thing pop up.

I'm not on my home computer with Firefox so I can't give you the exact destination folder, but if you check out the FAQ at mozilla.org, you should be able to find the directory path.

If not, I'll let you know when I get home.

I like firefox...funny though...one of the few websites that doesn't seem to "read" right with firefox is the Spurs homepage...I don't get the selection bars for players, schedule and scores, etc...I have to use Exploder if I want to go there...

Work's bank is Citibank and I can use Firefox to view accounts and transfer money, but I cannot use it for their Direct Deposit part of the site. I have use IE for it. Which is just as well, since Firefox dumped all my saved passwords anyway. No, I don't have my password saved for the bank site, but it remembers the company name and I still have to put in an user id number and password.

Do you have Macromedia Flash installed? The banner is a flash file - same as the links to players, schedules, etc.

I vaguely remember someone saying you could set up firefox to default to IE if it hit a site that didn't open right...that could be why it works for you but I don't know how to set firefox up that way...

I think it's a plug in you can download.

Johnny_Blaze_47
12-14-2004, 11:38 AM
You might have the Flash plug-in installed for IE, but not Firefox. Re-install it.

MannyIsGod

As Joe said, all plugins must be installed in each browser. However, if that was the problem it would more than likely prompt you.
