To Jerry's kids.

I'm not gonna get into to it, but I have some friends whos family member's are affected by LGD and what not.

So please, it does help, it does make a difference.

Donate whatever you can. I have already, and hopefully you will too.

Thanks :)

It's one of my favorite charity's, it always has been.
We're not personally touched by it, I think I like it because my parents always had it on all day on Labor Day when I was growing up.

I'll be calling in, I do every year.
I also give to the firemen that do the "Fill The Boot" for Jerry's kids.

Thanks for getting the word out T Park!

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is known as Lou Gerhig's Disease.

Jerry Lewis does a telethon every Labor Day to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy, LGD is one of the many that fall under that umbrella.

It's always good to ask.

I tell my kids that all the time, the old cliche "there's no such thing as a stupid question."

You can't learn if you don't ask.

Sounds like something close to home with the LGD.

Always filling the boot and don't hesitate to add to Jerry's kids.

Hey Tpark! Why not tell Jerry's kids to write 50 words or less why they should get the money? :lmao

What is wrong with this?

Your Congregation? what type of church allows that type of language?
Hey Mr.above others! last time I checked we still live in a country where we can say what we want no matter how many tree hugger's we offend.

You think your special? Your pathetic to use someone you know with a disease as grounds to talk smack in a message board. What Whottt said is Legit since Tpark made the "post why you should get Spurs tickets" topic.

Don't take it out on others cuz the man you worship is about to make a fool out of himself on Dancing with the Stars. have fun in your glass house.

If you care about this person so much why are you not at his place helping him or keeping him in good spirits instead of wasting your time on a message board trying to give others on line guilt trips?

Must have got to you, Mouse, since you used four of your 27,753 aliases to respond. In any case, I never said you didn't have the freedom to show everyone here you're an ass, but that gives me the same freedom to call you out for it. Tell me some crippling illness a friend of yours has so I can freely mock it, too.

I like how this guy fucks with others all year long then decides to get on his self riotous soap box and be serious all of a sudden. I still don't read where mouse said anything bad out LGD.

You want others to have your back after you ruin a great topic with your insults? Where is your respect for Jerry and his kids?

Maybe someone should froward this topic to his congregation so they can see how he really is after he leaves church.

I have a friend who has MLS. a friend who has downs, a gay friend, a black friend, a wheel-chair bound friend and a friend who is a circus clown, but I'm not asking you to donate to the MLS society, ACLU, and the NCCA. Bitch.

Hey mouse, does it bother you that you are nearly less respected on an internet forum then you are in real life?

That would bug the shit out of me if even my "virtual" pals thought I was a worthless human.

One of my former business partners just died of Lou Gerhig's last month. He was 52 and still has daughters in high school and college. He was a model athlete until about 2 years ago when the disease struck. Unlike a lot of these neurological illnesses there is really no way to keep the symptoms in check and you deteriorate pretty quickly. It was sad to witness his decline but he never was bitter about it...he was an awesome guy.

Anyway, this is definitely a worthwhile cause and I'd love to see them discover a cure.

My ex brother-in-law has had ALS for about 15 years now. They predicted his death many times, many years ago. Now they are just scratching their heads. He has been wheelchair-bound all these years, and up until just recently was able to do artwork with his mouth via his computer. The really cruel aspect of this disease is that your mind still works, although it's hard for others to comprehend that it does due to the condition of your body. I wish they'd find a cure...........this telethon has been going on for years, with millions upon millions of dollars raised--so frustrating that no cure has been found. :depressed

they have made progress though :)

this telethon not only pays for research, it also pays for summer camps for kids striken with the disease so they can get a break from day to day life and what not.

There are lots of articles that say it, I picked this because it talks about the Chase donation T Park mentioned.

MDA Welcomes Chase As Sponsor Of Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, USA

Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) formed a new alliance. Chase is now a national sponsor of the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

With this commitment, Chase will donate $5 to MDA for every donation made by viewers during the Telethon using a Chase credit card, with a maximum contribution by Chase of $150,000. Chase offers a selection of credit cards under Visa and MasterCard.

Telethon pledges and contributions in 2006 amounted to more than $61 million in support of MDA. More than 77.4 percent of MDA's income is dedicated to programs of research, services and education for families affected by muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases. MDA National Chairman and Telethon star Jerry Lewis said Chase's sponsorship is tremendous news for MDA.

"A financial institution with the prestige and national presence of Chase conveys added stature and importance to MDA's lifesaving mission," Lewis said. "Every extra dollar raised presents added opportunity to help 'my kids' win their battle against devastating diseases."

"Chase is honored to be a national sponsor of this year's Telethon to demonstrate our support of the MDA's longstanding research and education efforts to defeat neuromuscular diseases," said Jim Peterson, executive vice president, Marketing, Chase Card Services. "With this sponsorship, we've also established a convenient way for our cardholders to support this worthy cause."

The Telethon will be broadcast beginning at 9 p.m. EDT Sept. 2 from the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas. The 21½-hour show, combining entertainment and information about neuromuscular diseases, will be carried by MDA's 190 "Love Network" stations nationwide. It also can be viewed on MDA's Web site, http://www.mda.org, via RealNetworks.
