Has to be Spurs with '06-'07 Champions as "actors."

But 8 discs has me wondering if it's just Spurs.

I'll wait for more info before I buy it. Release October 30, it will coincide with the new season so there's bound to be more info and advertising.

While we're talking Championship stuff, has anyone seen a hardcover book on the '07 title? Not Sports Illustrated. In '05 there was a hardcover book put out by the NBA on the Spurs season. I haven't found one for this title. Anyone know?

yeah i was going to say something with 03-07 is likely what you saw, and that wouldn't account for the other 5 discs.

Yes! That's it! :spin

I'm so glad you know what I'm talking about! :lol

I was beginning to think I was nuts.

The company that published the '05 one, EventDay Media, had no idea what I was talking about!

Does the NBA do one every year? The '05 one came out in July that year so I thought one would be out already.

Edit: The only ones I've found are the Spurs '05 and the Heat '06. Both by the same author.

If I find it I'll post it, please do the same!

i'm doubting it. if it's like the heat's one, it'll just be this year, so i figure the entire cavs season, the 07 retrospective and three others, though i don't know what three.

Since there are 8 discs, my guess is that they'll have one disc that's basically identical to the current 07 Championship DVD, then the other seven discs will be full games: one from each of the first three rounds, and then all four Finals games.

2005-2006 NBA Champions: Miami Heat DVD

Product Description
Celebrate the Miami Heat's first-ever NBA Championship. From their white-hot Eastern Conference playoff run to their triumphant finals comeback against the Dallas Mavericks, the action is all here. This 13-disc "Complete Game" Collector's set celebrates the Miami Heat's first-ever NBA Championship. Enjoy complete games in their original broadcast form from their 6-game Eastern Conference playoff run against the Detroit Pistons to their thrilling 6-game comeback in the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Relive the thrills and savor this piece of Heat history forever. As a bonus, the 2006 NBA Finals Championship Highlight Program, which tells the story of the entire season, is included.

I could see them skipping the conference finals and including the Phoenix sereis instead but otherwise, based on past sets, it looks like the championship DVD + complete finals games + complete games of the conference finals

the fact that this set covers all 4 years is very disappointing imo.

All the other non-dynasty box sets for title teams cover a single season, usually all the finals games (including losses) and sometimes CF games too. This is just a way to job over Spurs fans, who now will probably never get to see the 99 WCF against Portland on dvd, or the 03 WCF against Dallas, or the 05 WCF against the Suns. Even the series against the Jazz would be worthwhile.

All the spurs get is compressed footage on 8 discs of 16 games. Judging by the way the other sets are with games per disc ratio, I would guess that even the 16 games on this set are going to be edited, maybe severely in some cases considering how the other sets are.

Last year the Heat get a 13 disc set to just cover one single season (12+title dvd). 12 games get covered over the 12 discs, Finals + ECF.

88-89 Pistons dvd set: 11 discs for 10 games. the entire 6 game ECF and the entire Finals + program.

93-94 Rockets dvd set: 8 discs for 7 games in the finals (eigth disc is the title program).

90-91 Bulls : 6 discs (5+1) for 5 games

84-85 Lakers: 7 discs (6+1) for 6 games

:)

Who woulda thought in the late 80s early to mid 90s we would be arguing about whether the Special Edition Championship Box Set should include highlights and games of one championship or all four.

You could already get the games from Google video! I think it costs about $4 a game.

I want to get every playoff game of the 4 championship runs so I can watch them any time, but Google video won't sell NBA outside the USA due to "rights issues". Nor will they or the NBA reply to my letters/emails (6 so far) about this issue, the fuckers. The NBA treats its OS fans like shit.

SI fucked me in 2003, so I don't deal with them any more. I got the stuff, and was subscribed. Of course, I forgot to not renew, so they got me for another year, but so that wouldn't happen again, I cancelled the card. Do they run it, and not renew? No, they run it, it comes back cancelled, so they renew me, and then immediately mark me as not paying!!! I went to the BBB, and got the charge and the late/non payment removed, but they have lost my business.

I bought the DVD too, and I'll buy this new box set.

But I tape the Spurs all the time. Regular season I keep only what I want, but I tape them all. You never know when it'll be a game you'll want to own.

Same problems here, NBA coverage on-line is terrible for us Aussies.

I can't even subscribe to ESPN Insider, I don't even know why I wanted to, it was a while ago, but the worst part is the technical support too, no OS telephone support and they DON'T REPLY to EMAILS!

Heck, my tapes of games 2 & 4 from 2007 already look ragged. Oddly enough, the game 3 tape is still virtually pristine. Go figure...

I need game 1. I think I must have taped game 2 over it. Game 2 was a surreal experience for me. A friend (also a Spurs fan) and I went to see the Braves v. Cubs in Atlanta. During the baseball game, we kept hearing that the Spurs were running all over Cleveland. We caught the fourth quarter in a sports bar near Turner Field, and got to see only the "scare" near the end when Cleveland made a game of it. When I finally saw the tape, I wished I had stayed at home to see it!

There are plenty of great highlights from games in the finals I would love to see in live action....

Bowens block on Chauncey
Nazr's Block on Big Ben
Malik Dunking on Mutumbo
Dave trying to do the same but then missing
Dave's curtain call
AJ's baseline jumper

I know some of this stuff is on the DVDs that are already out, but still I want to watch a whole game and watch it happen as it did.

Google Video doesnt sell NBA games anymore. I had a whole bunch of games downloaded from the 2006 season that i paid 3.95 each for and now the files dont work anymore becasue all NBA games have been removed. I did get my money back though, which was a good thing. I think there is still somewhere to download games but I dont know where or how many are available.
From what I heard the NBA is compiling a complete digital archive of every game ever played and will have it available online within the next few years. They will also have advanced search features, like if you want to see all the buzzer beating, game winning 3 pointers from the 1994 season, or if you want to see all of Rasheed's technicals, Kobe's dunks, Duncan's blocks, etc. you will be able to search for all games and specific points of the games that contain them, as well as making your own highlight reels and uploading them for public ratings.

I recently transferred my tapes from 1999 to DVD. I'd agree that the quality isn't great, but it also isn't too bad, and at least I've got them at that standard for an appreciable period of time.

I am missing some games that I'd like to find to complete my collection -- I'm missing Game 3 of the 2005 Finals (not like I'd be anxious to watch that one again) and Game 3 of the 2003 WCF (which I would like to watch again at some point). I'm pretty sure, though, that Kori has put the squeeze on things like trading NBA video, so I'm not sure how I'll ever get those games.

An impressive performance by Duncan, the shit reaction of the Sonics fans.
It's a classic for me.
