fits spurs imo
I doubt it will happen. Vaughn has already taken the vet backup PG spot and I don't see Pop too keen to add another. His best bet for a ring is probably playing second or third string for the Mavs.
And anyway, didn't he already announce his retirement a few years ago? What is with people coming back into the league? Is there no shame anymore?

IF he still has his shot and IF the Spurs were to move Beno and Barry, I'd still be hesitant. No harm in working him out, but he'd bring absolutely nothing new to the swing man rotation.

I have learned through eons of reading the forum that, in any thread title about a personnel move, in which the title ends in "?", the "?" is a symbol for "The preceding is a load of crap stemming from the ignorant speculation of a sports journalist who was under time pressure to write something. Please disregard."

Not likely remotely true.
That said, it makes little sense. With Udoka on the roster, Brent Barry will barely get any playing time. With the over-paying of Matt Bonner, which cost us Luis Scola, we have another shooter at yet another position. We need to use the roster spot instead to work on a young player.

anyone willing to take kg out is ok with me... bonner seems to be a standup kind of guy anyhow and who knows maybe this season is his break out season with the spurs. dont we all give a mandatory 1season to get adjusted to the spurs system for all new players? so give the guy a break already. you all were sucking his red rocket when he first came aboard and now everyones out to throw him to the dogs. if the fo sees potential in bonner then why cant you?
ps: fuck scola! get over the guy already you bunch of fruit cakes.

It takes shooters some time to adjust here, so, even if he can still shoot I wouldn't replace Barry with him if we want to win it this year. We're better off staying with Barry and the rest of the team that won the title, which btw for the whiners, did NOT include and never will include Scola. :)

You guys are idiots. Bonner will never replace Horry, not figuratively or literally. That's just obnoxiously stupid.
Scola didn't 'cost Spurs'. What a bunch of whackos.
The dumb New Russian level sell-off of Luis Scola for jelly beans ranks just below the theft of the 2000 Presidential election by the Supreme Court as things one doesn't 'get over'. It doesn't stop being stupid.
Of course Bonner didn't directly cost Scola, but was emblematic of a front office too worried about money on one hand and then not worried enough on the other. Yes, Matt Bonner is overpaid.

Don't sign Jake Voskhul, then. Bonner made $2 million last year and his impact on the team was more or less nil. What's the 411 on him this year? Barely any playing time. Even if he gets some, I fail to see how a dollar more than the same $2M is a dollar well spent. I don't mind him on the team, but the signing lead to dumbass penny-pinching that lead to the Bush league Jackie Butler trade, which was fucking chintzy.
And fuck all y'all for saying I should get over the Scola trade. Shut your fucking imbecilic mouths for telling anybody what to do.

Willie was pretty good, if he didn't mess up his knees. Actually, had the Spurs stayed healthy they might squeezed out a title. David had a decent suppporting cast in his early years, lined up with T.C., Elliott, Anderson, and Strickland. I don't recall our bench being much, except for Paul Presley and maybe Antonie Carr. Strickland was prone to making earronous decisions, if anyone recalls the 90' semifinals against Portland. A quality point guard would have boad well for the Spurs at that point.

The Cavaliers are one of a handful of teams interested in veteran shooting guard Allan Houston, who had a workout at the New York Athletic Club on Tuesday.
He looked good shooting the ball and appeared to be in good condition. However, teams will probably want to see him play -- in a full-court setting with other players -- before making any overtures about signing him.
Cavs assistant coach Mike Malone went to New York for the workout.
The Cavs have yet to make a decision about the 36-year-old Houston. Yes, they do have some roster spots to fill. If they make him an offer, it would probably be for the veteran's minimum of $1,219,590. The league would pay all but $770,610.
Players who can shoot and play multiple positions are at a premium to the Cavs. They also want to improve their basketball IQ.
Other teams are the Manhattan workout were New Jersey, Miami, Dallas, San Antonio and the Knicks. Houston hasn't played since the 2004-05 season. His arthritic knee, which forced him to retire, limited him to just 20 games for the Knicks that season.

Exactly. Allan Houston to SA is one of the stupidest fucking ideas I've heard this offseason.

Realistically, Allan Houston shouldn't even get one workout with an NBA team. He's old, and has bone on bone knee(s). That being said, sometimes and organization will give a player a workout as a favor to an agent that has played fair, or steered another player to them.
