I'm not sure it can get any better than this little Chinese Bistro.

It's from the same owners as PF Changs, and many of the dishes are similar, but the prices are about half of what they are at PF Changs...

$8 will get you almost anything from their menu .. and the portions are generous.

I've seen a new Asian Bistro named "Spice" at the 1604/Stone Oak area .. I'd be curious if it's a similar experience.

I love Pei Wei here in Houston ... I can normally eat pretty cheap there, I typically get the rice & mongolian sauce if I don't feel like having any chicken.

No. But I did hear a Realtor call it that once. I laughed for about an hour. Pie Way is how its pronounced.

Thanks! My girlfriend took me there raving about the food. I thought it was horrible. I gave it a second chance a few months later with a co-worker....and it sucked again. My co-worker hated her dish so bad, she went and ordered another dish.

Seems like people either love or like that place.

it's overrated, and not as good as PF Chang. but it's better than Rice Box or Panda Express.

Best Chinese food is from hole in the wall places where Chinese people cook it, not from big-name fast food Chinese chains with Mexican cooks in the back.

No. But I did hear a Realtor call it that once. I laughed for about an hour. Pie Way is how its pronounced.Pei Way != Pie Way ... It should be Pay Way because pei isn't spelled differently than wei. You should listen to how they pronounce it there, all the host(esses) in Houston say Pay Way.

I got Panda Express once. The white rice was about as gross as white rice can possibly be. And the giant nuggets of fried disgustingness that were supposed to be some sort of chicken dish weren't much better.

I think pei wei is okay. Is that place on 281 still there Sun Sun? I use to like that place when I used to live in San Antonio but that was like about 8 years ago. There was also a place that I really liked on north nacadoches I can't remember the name but it was also really good.

Their website says it's "Pay Way." I've always heard nothing but negative comments about that place, so I've never even tried it. We got PF Chang's brought in for us one day at work, and EVERYBODY was sick the next day. Well, except for me, since I am on South Beach and don't do Chinese any more. :p: It was a quiet day at work.

I have mentioned here why I hate it before, but I'll say it again.

The meat is very, very substandard compared to PF Chang's.
They overload every dish with carrots so that they don't have to give you that much meat.
The eggrolls taste like they've been cooked once. Left a plate for a few hours, then cooked again.

It's not just one location - I actually had Pei Wei in another state before I ever had it in San Antonio.

Sun Sun is on the Southbound side of 281 just south of 1000 Oaks, where the Jims and Taco Cabana are.

When I used to work at the OD at 281 & Bitters, I would always get it to-go.

I know the Pei Wei restaurants here aren't like that at all, but then the HQ is here, and so is everyone's bosses, so they might be more on their toes.

I am the only person on earth who likes that Pei Wei has carrots and snow peas in their dishes, and not just the straight meat, but it is obviously not the same quality as PF Changs. The PF Changs at the Quarry is alot better than the one at La Cantera. I like PFC as much for the atmosphere and the service, as for the food, and the one at La Cantera just doesn't have the same feel or quality of employees as the one at the Quarry.

For Chinese, I also like Beijing on NW Military a lot.
