The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on forward Damir Markota (6-10, 225), General Manager Larry Harris announced today.

Markota appeared in 30 games with the Bucks last season and posted averages of 1.7 points and 1.0 rebound per game. A native of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Markota, 21, was assigned to Tulsa of the NBA Development League on two occasions during the 2006-07 season and averaged 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in 10 games for the 66ers.

Selected by San Antonio with the 59th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, Markota was traded to the Bucks on June 28, 2006 for the better of Milwaukee’s two second round picks in the 2007 NBA Draft (33rd overall). [READ]

The reason why he was waived is that he does like Beno and give a stupid interview to a croatian newspaper.

The whole story :

What he has said to this newspaper :

If I had a chance to play, I would not go to the night clubs. In some way it was the team’s fault. When you know that you’re not getting any playing time, you’re not motivated. One or two nights out won't hurt…There is no pressure, nobody is harsh on you if you lose the game, if you play bad. You’re still getting the money. There is no pressure from fans. Hopefully I’ll play more next season. No more fooling around.

Kind of a burn waiting this long to ditch him. He's still just 21 though -- he might be able to catch on to a training camp roster.

I don't know, it got Markota a check for almost $700k to do nothing and a chance to make more this season.

Stupid like a fox!
