Hey all - I'm turning 21 in a little under a month and I'm in the middle of organising the party. I'm going to have around a 100 people there (including some family and family friends) and I need to work out what to do with music. As there is so many people it will be hard to please everyone but many of my friends are into the indie rock scene and there are others who regularly attend clubs and listen to house/breaks etc.

Anyway, I have a few options that I can see available to me (are there others I'm missing?).

1. I have a friend who is a pretty respectable DJ (i.e. he doesn't normally do parties but rather plays in clubs) who plays mostly breaks and electronica which most people there don't normally listen too.

2. A jukebox - I don't really know what the standard deal is with this... If I had to put all the stuff in myself everyone would be stuck listening to my music (punk/indie/rock) which is not really what I want cause its not very good party music.

3. ipod - I can hook my ipod to the venues sound system - all very well but I am stuck with my music once again. Unless I go and acquire some more suitable stuff.

So my questions are - which option should I go? Any recommendations for music at a 21st?

hmm yeah not a bad idea, half my mates are ocka anyway so they'd love it... it would kinda become a giant sing along though... i don't know that I want that haha

Theres only so much Bon Jovi, Jimmy Barnes and Choirboys I can take...

Let your buddy DJ.
he can always pick up cheap vinyl of stuff everybody would like to hear, but if he's any good he probably has a wide variety of everything anyway.

Throw some Queen in there, whatever you do. Can't go wrong with Freddie.
