Manu hardcores would argue it's because of his bench role, and 3rd party and sometimes 1st scoring duties that he is somehow overrated.

Understand it's a San Antonio thing. Nobody is going to come here and put us on SportsCenter every night with him or Duncan. Given on another squad Manu would be a 20 or more scorer at will.

Realistically though it's a mental thing. Manu has transformed into his roles he is asked to play with the Spurs, and he has to turn it on and off instantly all the time. A lot of superstars cannot accomplish that even.

Manu is the most underated Spurs player.

Without him, Duncan wouldn't be Duncan, Parker wouldn't be Parker, and Spurs wouldn't be Spurs that we know.

Bruce Bowen.
Bruce's a best defensive player in the league and doesn't get more credit for that.

outside the Spurs family, Manu is underrated. Here in Spurstalk, he is not.

I would say he is the most overrated.

I dunno, probably Oberto. He has good feet and is always in the right place at the right time like Tim is. Manu is still feared by defenses even though he's coming off the bench now. Even though Bruce can't win a DPOY because his defense doesn't show up in the boxscore, he does get named to the All-Defensive Team every year. Tony and Tim have the MVPs to back their shit up, Horry has 7 rings and has broken millions of hearts on the way.

So I vote Oberto.

Last year it was Oberto. This year it will be Bonner.

Well if he could only get one of the MVP trophies last year, I am glad he won the one he did. :)

I could make pretty good arguments for Bowen and Oberto. (There were times last year that I thought many of you were too down on Fab.)

However, I have to go with Ginobili. There haven't been many players in the entire history of professional basketball that have accomplished what Ginobili has so far in his career. Perhaps more importantly, how many players have the talent, patience, and mental toughness to accept reduced minutes for the sake of the overall offensive strategy and substitution pattern? Manu could be an all-star every year on another team...

All of the key Spurs players are underrated in their own way. Even Duncan is underrated since a lot of casual fans and haters forget that he is the best player in the NBA.

Amazingly, Duncan is underated. People this past yeat starting asking if he was one of best PF in history. Now, they say he IS the BEST PW ever. Timmy is just mentally as good or better then he is physically. Saying all this, Ill go with Bruce Bowen as most underated player on this squad. His BasketBALL iq HAS to be alsome. never wastes energy. utitlies space and opponents. Lastly, seems to be there in big games. Speaking of IQ...the starting 5 IQ has to be above all others in this league. I know why pop now yells at his shooters to shoot. Its because they all want to help each other. SPURS = definition of TEAM.

I'm going to take a wild guess and go with either Alvin Robertson or maybe Willie Anderson. The short-shorts give the me notion that it might be early to mid 80's. Also the MULLET Reggie Thesis is sporting. Didn't start following the Spurs until 89, and I was only 5 then. I believe Sleepy Flyod also wore #21.
