I just bought some at Culebra Meat Market, and they're pretty damn good.

My "go to" place has usually been Delicious, but I'm always open to suggestions. What's your favorite place?

My boyfriend's Mom makes the best tamales EVER. She makes green and red tamales. Also when you reheat them they are still fresh and moist. Hers are the best, I've tried MANY MANY homemade tamales and none are on the level of hers!!!!

I've only been to the Culebra on Nacogdoches and the one on Babcock and Hillcrest.

I miss the little old lady who sells tamales door-to-door in my old neighborhood. Those were the best.

I normally only do as well, but lately have craved tamales.

We went to Culebra last night to get steaks and the tamale smell hit me right when we walked in the door...I HAD to get some!

I've heard this from other people too, so they must be good.

Anyone here old enough to remember Goa's Tamales on Bandera Rd?

Rubens....yep.

Goa's were the first tamales I ever ate that had jalapenos in them. I didn't know it at the time as a little kid and my dad said nothing until my eyes started watering. Then he laughed.

:lol

That was THE place to buy tamales from when I was growing up. We always got them free because my dad coached a softball team sponsored by Goa's Tamales, so they were always sending cans of them to his games.

I have to agree with everyone who said Ruben's. At Christmas you have to wait like 2-3 hours in line just to get some. The thing with Ruben's is that they really do taste hoemade, have plenty of meat and don't have that horrible "filler" fat that alot of machine made tamales have.
