I am going to be down in Rio for business next week and wanted to pick up a Splitter national jersey for my daughter.

First, do they even sell national team jerseys? Second, are they readily available in the local area? Third, what can I expect to pay?

I live in Sao Paulo and to tell the true I never look for a Brazil jersey.

Big stores here sell NBA jerseys but Brazil is very tough to find

You need to look at big stores and ask the guy who works there if he knows any place to find it

Thanks. I was planning on going over to the Barra Velodrome as well to see if I could get a national kit for my son who cycles, but I guess I should try one of these big stores first. I know it is a long shot, but they would rather have something like a national jersey than a Christ the Redeemer souvenir statue.

Of course, but it means something a bit more when your kids know that you picked it up in-country. I'm not necessarily getting her a Splitter jersey because she loves the dude or anything like that, but rather I have the opportunity to be in a country where I can pick up the national jersey of a future Spur. If I were next door in Argentina, she would be getting a Manu jersey...

That's gonna be REAL DIFFICULT.

Argentina now uses a company call Li Ning ( The same as Shaq ) and they still do not have distribution here in Argentina. Moreover I think that they make some of the Shirts specially in Argentina only for the team.

I don't know if this helps, but in Mercado Livre (kind of ebay) they have a brazilian shirt from the female national team: http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-61729208-_JM

That looks like a nice present for a girl. Perhaps you can find something similar in a store.

Now that is nice, especially considering Arcain (sp?) was on the Comets team here in Houston during their championships.

I know, I know... Silver Stars. But my girl was less than a year old when we moved from SA and the Silver Stars are relatively new in town.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to look for it.

OK, so maybe the Christ the Redeemer souvenir statue is looking better and better...
