There was one (possibly in 99) where Shaq's tubby ass tried to dunk it and ran into Duncan and Robinson. Both got a hand on the ball and sent him falling to the floor.

Oh you mean that foul where Bowen came across Dirk's body.

My vote would be the one on Chancey since it is actually a legitimate block.

Maybe Duncan should have moved his slow ass out the way?

Or just not picked up the first 5 fouls, take your pick.

There are two blocks in the Duncan Top 10 vault bonus features on this year's championship DVD. Personally, I like the one on one block of Shaq.

I'm sure David hd some monsters his first couple years in the league though. I just don't remember any specific ones right now...

You guys have short memories. I loved Hakeem then as much as I love Duncan now... but I'll never forget that block David Robinson had on him.

Remember back in the 1993-94 season (I remember because that's when HOU won it's first championship) and the Rockets were trailing by one with about a second left on the clock. There was an inbounds bass from the sideline to Hakeem (ala Alley-oop) and just as Hakeem was about to release his short jumper, DRob swatted it away.

It was a great great play.

Yes, and that was a turning point for Manu as well as he had turned it over to AI and was having a horror run.

Manu then scored something like 8 straight points and ignited his playoffs, although he didn't really hit his stride until the middle of the Suns series.

My fave block - have to think about that one for a while.

Mavs>spurs - yeah, Duncan is really slow, that's why he's the best help defender in the league! :rolleyes :ihit Moron.

Yeah, if only he'd laid off the jumpshot in his last couple of years I guess my memories of him would be fonder. Certainly he was a great energy player for us for all those years, and at his best in 2001-2 and 2-3:

Good lord.

Just because Duncan doesn't run a 4.4 40 doesn't mean he's a lumbering oaf. Watch his hands. They're lightning quick and he can adjust his body amazingly well for a big man. Footspeed isn't the only thing in the world that determines how fast a person can move within a confined space. There is no way in HELL that Duncan would get a single block if he didn't possess a measure of speed.

*Except for rare moments of hilarity when someone like Antione Walker or Allen Iverson forgets that he exists and dives into the lane to put a floater up in the air from their shoulders.

My favorites, from memory:

David Robinson capping Karl Malone three or four times during a visit to SLC. Malone finally managed to throw one down on Dave after that, but aside from that DRob clowned him the whole night - must have been about 1992.

In a road loss during the 1994-95 season in Orlando, David put the clamps on Shaq in defeat, blocking him at the rim at least twice and really disrupting him on many other occasions. Possibly Drob's greatest individual defensive effort.

In a home win against the Magic in 1996, Doc Rivers capped Penny Hardaway at the buzzer to preserve the lead for good.

Tim Duncan abusing Kenyon Martin for at least three of his NBA Finals record-tying eight blocks on 6-15-03.

Bowen on Chauncey (2005), then Bowen on Dirk (2006).

That's all I remember for now.

Glad someone mentioned the Malik block on Shawn. But the one Malik block that made me jump out of my chair was the one he had in NJ against Mutumbo when Dikembe was being a pain in the ass in the paint. That was TOTAL ownage at the rim!!! And we won the title, the kind of sparkplug play Malik always had in him.
