So here's my little idea and it involves stats and records etc.

1: In North American professional sports the last decade in win percentage
2: All-Time in the NBA in win percentage
2: Of the last 3 years ESPN has ranked SA the best franchise in North America, looking at a sure third
3: Years running SA has had the highest margin of victory
4: NBA Championships, 4th All-Time
5: ........your turn

aaaand go...

(correct me if i'm inaccurate)

one of my favorite things.

Classiest run organization, players, and fans.

One of my favorite examples is on the 2003 Championship video in game 6 against the Lakers.

Pop talking in the huddle to the other guys

"When we win this, there will be no jumpin around or hootin and hollarin, we will win this with class."

Pop leads by example and everyone follows him.

1 indicates the Spurs are first (1st) in "North American professional sports the last decade in win percentage", 2 indicates the Spurs are second (2nd) in "All-Time in the NBA in win percentage", 3 years running ...

Get it?

He's not asking people to just name the top 10, there's a game element to this.

* David Robinson proved nice guys don't always finish last

* Tim Duncan proved you don't have to be a loudmouth showboat wannabe thug to be one of the most dominant player in the NBA.

* Spurs are business first, no talk, just DO WORK SON attitude.

* Manu has the heart of a lion

* S.A. is still small enough that this atmosphere doesn't feel lame like almost every other big time city/team.

* The world hates us. It's fun to be hated.

* We get the pleasure of knocking out the Suns every other year.

7 ...

Not to trump Mel, but . . . .

7 . . . consecutive seasons with at least 57 regular season wins
8 . . . appearances in the conference finals
9 . . . playoff series wins since 2005 (?)
10 . . . full seasons of Gregg Popovich at the helm (70.9% winning percentage in regular season games; 64.3% winning percentage in post-season games).

FromWayDowntown
09-15-2007, 01:19 AM
9 is also the total all-time point differential in Spurs/Lakers games; +9 for the Spurs over 128 games played. I find that amazing for some reason.

FromWayDowntown
09-15-2007, 01:23 AM
While I'm at it . . . .

28: the Spurs are at or above .500 historically against 28 of the 30 current NBA franchises.

4: the aggregate number of games under .500 that the Spurs are against the 2 franchises that they don't have winning records against (63-65 all-time against LAL and PNX). 4 titles will always be better than that number, but that's another number I find to be simply amazing.
