Sean Elliot: Manu is a true competitor, he keeps playing... he gets points, boards, assists, steals... he just keeps playing no matter what.

He averages. 20 turnovers a game?

Oh wait. You were using exaggeration to put down Manu.

Try again Willow.

The thread is about this game... Manu in the fourth. :drunk

Manu is hardly EVER terrible, people tend to think just because he doesn't score 20 ppg he's in a slump. They aren't looking at the whole game...they don't look at what doesn't come packaged in a neat little box score.

Manu was Mr.4th Quarter tonight. He got the team going again after that horrendous 3rd. He does what needs to be done, he doesn't give up no matter what happens, you can always count on him to play...to just simply play. I love him!

I can count at least 5 games this year that Manu should have been selling cotton candy in Club 200.

And I can count at least 23 games this year where you've bitched about anything and everything, so what's your point :lol

Probably the five we lost huh?

Wonder what that says about him?

Or maybe what it says about you.

Seattle twice.
Toronto, Memphis and Houston.

And there were a few others which the Spurs won even though hot dog was in full mode.

I'll give you Toronto and Memphis, but the 2nd Seattle and the Houston game...even our own MVP was making stupid mistakes in CRUCIAL minutes. So should Tim have been up there with the beer and soda?

Manu is inconsistent and usually out of control. Funny, he didn't play like that while he was in the olympics.

Is it going to take Hubie to show him how to play ball?

Rick Von Braun

Sequ,

You are just starting sheyittt http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smilol.gif

Should I take you seriously?

Let's see Manu in our five losses:

Nov07at SuperSonics (http://www.nba.com/sonics/index.html?nav=page) 94-113 L (http://www.nba.com/games/20041107/SASSEA/boxscore.html?nav=page)26 7-12 3-6 4-6 0 4 4 2 1 0 4 6 21
Pretty good game (he was the best Spurs' player statistically!)

Nov21at Raptors (http://www.nba.com/raptors/index.html?nav=page) 91-96 L (http://www.nba.com/games/20041121/SASTOR/boxscore.html?nav=page)37 4-11 0-3 2-4 0 2 2 3 0 1 2 1 10
Bad game

Nov22at Grizzlies (http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/index.html?nav=page) 90-93 L (http://www.nba.com/games/20041122/SASMEM/boxscore.html?nav=page)28 1-8 0-0 4-4 4 2 6 4 2 0 4 3 6
Bad game

Dec08vsSuperSonics (http://www.nba.com/sonics/index.html?nav=page) 96-102 L (http://www.nba.com/games/20041208/SEASAS/boxscore.html?nav=page)33 4-14 3-5 7-7 3 1 4 1 2 0 2 4 18
A so and so game, not that bad. He missed lots of 2 pt attempts, but hit his FTs and got assists, rebounds, steals, etc. PC score of 13, PC/min 0.394 (2nd best Spur statistically)

Dec09at Rockets (http://www.nba.com/rockets/index.html?nav=page) 80-81 L (http://www.nba.com/games/20041209/SASHOU/boxscore.html?nav=page)29 4-11 3-6 2-2 1 4 5 2 1 1 2 0 13
Another so and so game. PC score of 13, PC/min 0.448(certainly not bad, 3rd best Spur statistically)

As you can see, faaaaar from selling cotton candy in Club 200 http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smilol.gif

In other words, you have no point. Are you assuming that a player has to play good every single game? Not even Duncan can do that, and he is arguably a top 3 player in the league.

Be happy with the Spurs' win and stop bitching... There are...

Good Times http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smismokin.gif

ahead!

In the olympics, he was the team leader, here he assumes the rol of 2nd or 3rd man. But, now that i notice, when manu plays bad, the spurs loose.

"Manu start using that Iceman Patented finger Roll"

That caught my eye right away. I wonder if he has been practicing it or it just came spontaneously? An excellent addition to those finishes where the low paint is too clogged to lay it in.

No where near as good as Ice's fingerroll. Hell, Ice could do it from the FT line over Jabbar. :)

Sequ, funnyman, the fact that Manu is not scoring 20 pts per game does not mean he should be selling candy in the stands.

And you chose this game to bust his chops!

He is the reason we won the game, you nitwitt. The come back was sparked by Manu. Were you watching the game at all?

Here are some quotes from the Spurs Home Page:

"Ginobili scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Spurs stormed back from a 10-point deficit for a 94-91 victory over the Orlando Magic."

"Ginobili gave the Spurs a boost by scoring 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter."

"Quiet to that point, Ginobili displayed some of his trademark energy in the final period. He had a 3-pointer, a pair of driving layups and two free throws to close the gap to 82-80 with 6:52 to go."

" 'He played with poise,' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. 'He picked and chose. He did a good job passing the ball when in a crowd and a good job going to the hole when it was open.' "

He has not been playing at the top of his game (he was for the first six games) but he is not sucking.

I guess you next post will be:

Manu = Manure

and

Griceck > Manu

Goofball :lol

Manu has to be one of the mentally toughest guys on the team. Last night Pop pulls him in the first for a "bad shot" at 5 minutes, pulls him in the second because Hedo hit a three, pulled him in the 3rd at 3 minutes because he went for a steal and missed....then the guy comes back in the 4th and plays a MAJOR role in winning a game that wouldn't have been as close if Pop wasn't so determined to punish every play he doesn't like.

The thing TPark is that I don't know the guy personally like some of you do. After more than a year posting in the forum I have come to understand's some, not all, of Sequ's posts and I think I know, with a lot of degree of certainty, when he joking and when he is serious.

I guess when the post is about Manu, be it from him or from somebody else, I read it more carefully and try to respond to it given he is my favorite player (sort of like Jim with Steve Francis - just kidding, Jimbo)

T Park

Sequ, basketball isn't like a presidential election where you get to blame one person for everything that's gone wrong. You tried to drop a similar poo bomb on Beno earlier this year. How has that turned out?

Than the spirits we didn't sign Jason Kidd for 122 mill or Manu would be in Denver and they'd be 5 games ahead of us by now. And Parker would be gone also.
Bring on the Mailman! I want to see pick and rolls with him.

OK, Manu had 3 TO's the whole game. Tony Parker had 4, our PG.

Manu had 4 assists, and a steal, so that makes up for them.

It's almost funny that Manu plays better in tight games in the end than in blowout games.

boutons

Manu's from a Latin culture, so he's only great when his blood his hot and the emotion's high, and that's episodic, not effective qtr-in and qtr-out in routine yawners.

violentkitten
12-16-2004, 05:50 PM
he also apparently likes to mix in a siesta during the game as evidenced by him averaging less than 30 minutes

What are you talking about?

He plays 30 minutes because of his aggressive style. People in this forum have said it a million time: His efficiency drops if he plays 35-40 minutes night in, night out.
