A discussion arose in another thread about whether a championship won by a given franchise should count when the franchise moves.
Rather than try to answer that question, I present an alternate championship list: Championships by city, rather than by franchise. I also list the franchise name just for clarity:
Boston Celtics (16)
Los Angeles Lakers (9)
Chicago Bulls (6)
Minneapolis Lakers (5)
Philadelphia Warriors, 76ers (4)
San Antonio Spurs (4)
Detroit Pistons (3)
Houston Rockets (2)
New York Knicks (2)
Baltimore Bullets (defunct)
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Oakland (Golden State) Warriors
Portland Trail Blazers
Rochester (Sacramento Kings) Royals
St. Louis (Atlanta) Hawks
Seattle Supersonics
Syracuse (Philadelphia 76ers) Nationals
Washington (DC) Wizards (formerly Bullets)
Just FYI.
