We're a week away from NBA camps opening up, and two former Arizona players are still in limbo when it comes to contracts.
Marcus Williams, who declared for the NBA draft last spring after his sophomore season, is said to be in San Antonio working in the Spurs pre-camp.
Williams' agent, Rob Pelinka, confirmed that he "is in ongoing discussions'' with the Spurs about getting Williams signed.
It's not clear what Hassan Adams' situation is, after he was released by the New Jersey Nets in July.
Last month, Adams told me that he had a couple of options and it wouldn't be long before he'd know where he would end up come camp time. But nothing has come out since and neither Adams nor his agent, David Lee, could not be reached.
Another former Wildcat, Mustafa Shakur, will be at the Sacramento Kings camp next week.

I bet RC is down on his hands and knees begging Marcus Williams to go to Europe. If the Spurs had any decent expectations for him, they would have signed him already.

If Williams is given only a partial guarantee and plays as poorly as he did in summer league, I can't imagine him making the team.

He's horrible and after seeing airballs and just all around shitty effort and play from him I hope I never see him in a Spurs uni.

Right here, friend.

I should macro this: "We could have had Dominic McGuire."

Wait - did I die?

How can they call it limbo if Williams is a borderline NBDL player with no chance of playing in the NBA?

Marcus Williams is a stud, I hope Spurs will use the MLE to lock him with a cheap contract for 3 years.

Yes, I'm high on Marcus Williams.
When I say 3 years contract with the MLE, it's a contract for the minimum salary with the first year fully guaranteed, the second and the third year aren't guaranteed at all.
The second year could too be fully or partially guaranteed but I hope Spurs will have enough leverage after Williams poor SL to get a second year fully non guaranteed.

I wonder if the kid is a stud or not. I guess only the coaches have even the faintest clue at this point.

Can anyone explain what kind of player he is and elaborate on his potential? I don't know much about him besides the fact that he seemed to piss off his collegiate coach, get benched in favor of Chase Budinger (a future 08 lottery pick), and have a low-scoring SL. What can he do if he loses the jitters?

Everyone called me a pessimist and a hater when I was angry about this on draft night and in subsequent days....glad to see the board has come to its senses

20 years old, Lute Olsen thinks hes a good prospect.

Hell yes the spurs should just cut him and give up.

Coach O was thrilled to see him go, he's just too classy to trash anybody who has ever put on the red and blue.

QFT.

In about two years we can start putting together threads about all the Paul Millsap types we passed up on in this draft.

Williams didn't show anywhere near enough in SL to merit a guaranteed contract. If he's a mistake better the Spurs just swallow it and not offer a guaranteed contract tying up a roster spot they could use to pick up some guy like Justin Williams last year that proves in NBDL he was ovrlooked.
