I received his e-mail yesterday.....

It's Dec 15th...so that means people who signed new deals are eligible to be traded. I keep hearing about this Vince trade to NYC...and quite frankly I can't figure out how it would work. If you're NYC...you have to take Rose probably since you don't have a player (or set of players) that you can trade straight up for Vince that Toronto will take (can you imagine Isiah with that light voice being fully serious and offering Tim Thomas for Vince straight up...and the Toronto GM not trying to laugh hysterically). In exchange, you have to give up Crawford or Stephon. You have to sweeten the pot. I don't see Isiah giving up either since he chased Crawford like a lawyer chasing an ambulance and he took Penny's disgustingly bad contract to acquire the Native Son (again...Penny as filler..quite disturbing how far his star has fallen...and he feuded with Shaq too...something to think about). The only other tradable commodity he has really is Sweetney since he's cheap and productive and JYD since Toronto fans still like him. Houston's contract is as bad as Penny's except Houston occasionally does something. The only way Toronto pulls the trigger is JYD, Crawford, and Tim for Rose and Vince (and 'm not sure that gets Toronto willing to deal) then your second issue comes up. Now that you have Vince, Houston, Rose, and Starbury...you got a lot of ball-hogging going on! Plus...who comes off the bench? Plus-Plus...everyone has at least 3 years left on their deals...meaning you're stuck with 4 large contracts (6 if you count Penny and Kurt) meaning your payroll is pushing Yankee-like territory. If I'm either team...I don't make this trade because it's ugly all the way around. Where should Vince go? I say ATL for Walker straight-up. Why? ATL gets a star they DESPERATELY need and Toronto gets cap relief at the end of the season. But then again...you could always keep him in the cold tundra instead of rewarding a pouty, oft-injured, overpaid pseudo-star (wait a minute...that's a pretty generic description).
Kidd to...anywhere? Anyone who knows me knows that a) I think Kidd is overrated and b) I don't make deals for oft-injured, max deal players. So instead of talking about how stupid everyone is for wanting to go after him...I'll tell you which deal makes the most sense. Kidd to Denver. Why? He gets Martin back as his running (or in his case...hobble really quickly) mate and Melo...who's a better version of RJ. Who do the Nets get back? Nene and Dre Mill. NJ gets a nice PG and PF with a lot of ability to play alongside RJ and co. Keep in mind I don't make this trade, but it seems of all the offers out there, this is the best...with Kidd to Portland for Rahim and Telfair (Kidd already vetoed this one) coming in second.
Another hot commodity if Cat Mobley. Yes...the guy I thought that swung the Orlando-Houston trade in the favor of Lando is a hot boy. he'll be around 8-10 mil to keep during this offseason (he'll be a free agent) and teams want to trade for him to try and resign him. Abdur-Rahim if also on the market (Portland is almost begging for someone to take him off their hands).
Which team needs to trade the most? Memphis and I'll tell you why. The truth of the controversy in Hubie's departure is the players revolted against him. They didn't like 11-man 24-minute-a-game rotation when half the team is looking for a payday. Logo wants to trade Bonzi bad so he wanted Bonzi to play a lot to showcase him. He also wouldn't mind unloadin his West Virginia homeboy Jason Williams. Both players are hard to shop and with Miller, Gasol, Battier, The Custodian, and Posey all having long-term deals with Watson and co needing to get paid, there was a backlash. Fratello wants the rotation down to 8-9 guys like most other teams and Logo wants a legit center so expect a coup of sorts with Wells, Tsaikilides (that was bad), and maybe even Swift packaged for one player and some picks. This thins down the rotation and allows some team to get a little cap relief.
The Karl Malone sweepstakes...who should get him? Well...Miami doesn't need him. Yeah, I said it because Udonis Haslem (my preseason pick for MIPOY) is doing a find job as the workhorse PF. Minnesota...doesn't need him either. Why They only need bodies to throw at opposing big men...and they already have the bad Earvin Johnson and Kandiass. Eddie Griffin's been a welcome surprise for them too. The only team that is makes sense for Malone to go is San An because they know how to handle old farts who think they can still score with the best and pump iron like a roided-up...uhhh...nahh...too easy. I can't wait for Pop to yell at him about rotating over on D!
Well, that's all for now!
