well guys... this should be the last of my "Best Of" series of threads... the winner for the Best Steal EVER by any Spur... belongs to Manu... Steal on Richard Jefferson on game 6 of the 2003 Finals... even Jefferson recognized at the end of the game that that steal changed the direction of the whole game... any other better ideas?

Hard to beat the Manu steal, I have to admit. But one that popped to my mind was back in the early 90's when the Spurs were playing Orlando (with Snaq still on their team). The game was televised on NBC, if I remember. Anyway, the game was close right at the end and Doc Rivers stole an inbounds pass to seal the game. Everybody mobbed him. Ah, precious memories.

I was sitting in the "end zone" at that game and it gave a nice perspective on Manu's steal. As I recall, Manu was closely guarding the Net player as he tried to take the ball to half court -- a one man "press" if you will.

Manu tipped the ball one way (the Net player reacted in that direction), then Manu tipped it back the other way (to himself and behind the Net) -- the Net player's head was swimming and Manu was off to the races.

DRob vs Flakers in 2003. Hustling back on transition D, he tips a pass and i think recovered it to.

Agreed but I remember a Block/Stuff/One Handed Steal ( All In One Play ) by Big Dave on J.R. Reid of the Hornets as one of the most remarkable defensive plays I have ever seen in my life !!! :wakeup

I remember a few occasions when Dave would be at the top of the key and intercepted a pass and took it all the way down for a dunk (or layup if it was at the end of his career). All the commentators would be like "a big man should not be able to handle the ball like that" :spin

I liked how Duncan picked Lebron's pockets clean during the Finals when he was bringing the ball up court.

Elliott had a huge steal for a breakaway dunk against the Suns the year they went to the finals when it looked like the game was over.

The best Spurs steal ever was drafting Manu with the 56th pick in the draft.

I liked Jacque Vaughn's steal against the Rockets last season and D-Rob's steal againt Isaiah Thomas during the 93 All Star Game I believe. It was Magic's last All Star Game.

The best Spurs steal ever was Jax against LA, game 6, in the 4th period of the 2003 WCF. It broke Kobe and the super Lakers will by out-scoring them down the stretch.

I don't remember that steal, but that game was OVER by the start of the 4th. I only ever watch that "deciding quarter" on the DVD to see Fish and Kobe weeping.

they played Dallas in the WCF.

i also don't remember any steals against the Lakers.

if your talking about the steal Jackson had against Michael Finley after they went up 8 on the Kerr three then a time out, I agree.

I recall a game against the Charlotte Hornets back in the day in which DROB stole the inbounds pass and instead of dunking layed it to seal the game. He was lucky considering the ball spun around the rim a few times before it went through. Maybe not the best steal of all time but certainly one I remember. :downspin:

This might not count, because the dunk after was better than the steal.... but what about the one that Finley had against the Mavs in '06... stole the Dirk outlet, toed the line... and then drove it in and threw it down on Dampier, then finished with the headbutt to the ball as it was comin back up. I got so pumped up after that

Well, "steal" is subjective. :lol JK. Someone broke out the Manu pick earlier in the thread, and I was just giving Tony equal time.

For example: Best Spurs Steal All Time
He didn't exactly say that it had to be a steal during a game, so you can say any type of steal.
