I saw one of those women's empowerment in sports commercials with the giant white megaphone where Picabo Street says that she's an athlete and proud of it. My question: are skiiers athletes? Is skiing a sport or activity? I tend to lead toward activity, but it's a close one.

poker is a game you play to make some extra scratch, get drunk, and nail some bitches. It's not a sport

Good way to put it.

Poker and Golf are not IMO. They are simply skill challenges.

If golf is a sport then skiing is definately a sport.

swing clubs for 150 times and walk 8 miles and lets see who says its a sport or not.

Bah....I play golf a few times a month and I don't consider it a sport.

Anything where you can smoke cigarettes and cigars while playing is not a sport.

I've played golf, its NOT physically demanding!

you've played 36 holes in one day, walking with the bag on your back?

or you rode in a cart.

play golf a few times a month and I don't consider it a sport.

once again, do you walk, or ride the cart.

Walk. Every time. I enjoy it.

I rode a cart once with someone and that was because they had back surgery in the previous 3 months.

Golf if not a sport. It's a skills challenge.

Again "Anything where you can smoke cigarettes and cigars while playing is not a sport." amongst other things that knocks it off the topic before anything else is considered.

And keep in mind, I am not bashing golf. Its simply not a sport.
