This is just just a very small mention from an article in the St. Pioneer Press, haven't heard anything about this from any other source, but.....

Don't be surprised if the Timberwolves trade guard Trenton Hassell to the Dallas Mavericks within days.

Are there any Mavs fans that are excited about this?? if this is a valid trade rumor, what would the Mavs be giving up? Are Trenton Hassell, Jamaal Sampson, and Eddie Jones key going to help get a ring? I like getting Jones, but these others....

Maurice Ager and filler?

Sounds fairly reasonable, but even though Ager hasn't shown much yet, I would rather not see Dallas do that deal.

Dallas, if they want ANY chance of being a contender, should get rid of Howard or Terry. They will need to face the facts that Howard, Dirk, and Terry are not a "Big Three". They have Dirk, but Howard and Terry are more like glorified junior-league jump shooters.

Dallas re-upped Stackhouse, picked-up Eddie Jones, already have Josh Howard, Devean George, and Greg Buckner. They want Trenton Hassell too???

Why?

I'd rather have Juwan. There's some post-scoring we could sorely use.

If the Josh Daniels Band wants to make it big and sign with a major label, they need to ditch Josh Daniels, rename themselves the Crazy Doggs and turn it all over to Jeff.

What does Trenton Hassell really bring to the table anyways?

Not too much. I really don't see a need for him at all with the Mavs.

Hassell is another one of those guys who's been regarded at one time or another as "a Bruce Bowen clone." Only he's not really in the same class defensively as Bowen and even playing with KG, he struggled to hit shots from distance to open the floor for his big man. I'm more interested in who Dallas might send out to get Hassell -- if it's something like Bucker, that's moving the same old furniture around the room; if it's something like buying someone's old couch and putting it into a room full of other used furniture, with none of it really matching anything else.

I think I've squeezed all the life I can out of that analogy.

Hassell is a solid defender. He's obviously not Bowen-level, as mentioned above, but he can certainly hold his own. He provides zero offense (like Buckner), and decent defense (unlike Buckner).

If we're just shipping out garbage like Buckner (a.k.a. the most useless player in the NBA) to get him, fine. If we're giving up a guy like Ager or anybody with some potential, then no way. This guy doesn't give us nearly enough to warrant playing time at SG over Terry, Stack, or Jones.
