Wow.

1. It really is an impressive image, in an art for art's sake sort of way.

2. If this were Malcom X or Chuck D, I'd probably be floored by the symbolism. Since it's S Jax, I'm not sure what to think.

3. Say what you want about the man, but he consistently brings the funny flavors of crazy. (As opposed to Artest, who is merely crazy in an unsettling way.)

Oh, Gee!!

What they don't show is that if he pulls up his jersey all the way the gun is pointed at a tattoo of David Stern that he had done on his right pec.

Despite suspension, Jackson to lead Golden State as captain
ESPN.com news services

Updated: October 4, 2007, 10:36 AM ET

Webster's Dictionary defines a captain as "a person of importance or influence in a field."

Stephen Jackson's past might not have put him in that category, but his future certainly will.

The Golden State Warriors named Jackson as one of its three team captains, along with Baron Davis and Matt Barnes.

"We have great confidence in him as a player and a leader, and I think you'd hear that from most people who have spent time to really get to know Jack," Warriors coach Don Nelson said.

Jackson will start the season with a seven-game suspension from NBA commissioner David Stern. Jackson pleaded guilty in June to a felony count of criminal recklessness stemming from an incident in which he fired a gun outside an Indianapolis strip club during training camp in October 2006. He was also sentenced to 100 hours of community service and fined $5,000.

Jackson, who has been known to argue with officials and was ejected from two playoff games last season, has a past that includes being part of the infamous brawl at the Palace at Auburn Hills in November 2004. Jackson was suspended 30 games for his involvement.

After a playoff game last season where Jackson vociferously complained openly about the referees, the newly appointed captain drew a fine from Nelson. But Nelson said he respects Jackson for his passion and energy.

Jackson, who is sporting a new tattoo, says the ink references his past while looking to his future. The image shows two praying hands in front of a church window holding a gun.

"I pray I never have to use it again," he explained to reporters.

Thug or not, I would give up my left nut,Barry,Beno to get Jax back. Jax, while he may not be smart at times, plays to his best in a good environment. That son of a bitch has steel balls when it comes to big playoff games and taking huge shots. Plus his D and athleticism is pretty solid. He managed to really take Dirk out of him comfort zone. I would take him back in a fucking heartbeat. Thug tattoo's isnt going to make me want him back any less. I honestly can give 2 shits about character off the court. As long as they play the game on the court the right way, that is all that matters. Athletes should never be considered role models...parents should be though. Jax when in a good team environment can be cocky all he wants. I love that swagger about him and his taunting and shit talking makes it more of a reason why I would LOVE to have him back.
