Yanks will allow A-Rod to walk if he turns down extension

The New York Yankees firmly believe no other team will offer Alex Rodriguez the money he is seeking, making New York the best fit for the two-time MVP. The Yankees plan to offer A-Rod a contract extension on his current deal, and if he turns it down, they're prepared to let him walk.
Boras, speaking with the Daily News last night via telephone, wouldn't say whether Rodriguez planned to exercise his opt-out clause, but the agent hinted that A-Rod's value would be at an all-time high if he did.
