How could Tony Gwynn get so fat?

Has anyone seen him on the playoff TV broadcasts? I almost fell out of my chair when I saw how fat he's gotten. I know he was never a slender guy, but he's HUGE. With all the health issues and knowledge I'm shocked he let himself go to that extent. The man was one of the best at the plate, and now I doubt he could even look down and see the plate. So sad.

From personal experience, I would have to agree. It's ridiculously easy to blimp out when you are already heavy and suddenly stop exercising.
