Personally, I think China has been trying to destroy us for a long time now, with all the lead in their exports.

Yep. If someone/some country/some group of countries wanted to destroy America they wouldn't do it through armies.

Yes, but more specifically than that it's a lack of proper standards on imported goods, a lot of which has to do with the WTO.

If our governments did a proper job of putting in place product standards and testing all imports against those standards then foreign manufacturers would have to lift their game. But these activities are chronically underfunded, and you get what you pay for...

Corps will always put profit above consumer welfare.

Regulations are in place, but dubya has gutted the CPSC, FDA, Agriculture, EPA, filled them with incompetent Repug operatives owned by the corps.

And it's just not toys, lead is great for profits:
