The Spurs coming out onto the floor accompanied by anything loud and vaguely optimistic will get me pumped. But "Y'all Ready For This" has been playing for the Spurs since the mid nineties. It's time for the team to get a little younger.

Well, it's only fitting. That song was a serious AJ vehicle when he was with the Spurs, and now that they're retiring his number, they should retire the song as well. Actually, they should have done it when he left in 2001.

Now can we get rid of playing the chorus to "We Are the Champions" in a 10-minute loop when the deciding Spurs victory in the NBA Finals is played in SA. That's a hundred times worse (and more embarrassing).

How is that embarassing.

We are the champions is fantastic when you win the ring.

Everyone plays it, and everyone sings along with it. Come on, lighten up.

It's embarrassing when its played in an endless loop for 10+ minutes. One time through is fine. 25 times in a row is a beating.

It's also highly unoriginal to begin with.

Dude, everyone in every sport plays that song when they win. Do you also want to eliminate a trophy ceremony since other sports do that, too, and it's "unoriginal"?

No, everyone in every sport does NOT play that song. But amongst those who do, NONE of them play it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over for 10+ minutes. Like I said, one time through is acceptable.....highly unoriginal and tired, but acceptable. Anything more is nails on a chalkboard.

When the Cavs took their only second half lead of the entire series in Game 4, the Cleveland PA played 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready for This (Y'All Ready for This)." The Spurs went on a run and swept the series. I hate the song, but don't mess with karma.

True that. I thought that ''Evil Empire'' intro suited us just nicely. It's like Tony Parker said , we're so used to being the good guys it's nice to be the bad boys from time to time(not an exact quote). Because this IS the year we repeat, no question. So that Evil Empire song will do just fine. I'd bet money that the Spurs would get so much more press if the marketing dept. went with some sort of evil theme this year.

We already have OBI-WAN-GINOBILI.

Personally I'm an oldies fan :tongue:

How lucky can one guy be;
We've got Timmy, Manu and TP
Like the fella once said,
Ain't that a kick in the head?
The room was completely black
When the banner went up the rafts.
Like the sailor said, quote,
"Ain't that a hole in the boat?"
My head keeps spinning;
I go to sleep and keep grinning;
If this is just the beginning,
My life's gonna be beautiful.
I've sun- shine enough to spread;
It's like the fella said,
"Tell me quick
Ain't this team a kick in the head?"

Pop's telling me we'll repeat;
He's picked out next years ring.
I couldn't feel any better or I'd be sick;
Tell me quick, oh ain't this game sick?
Tell me quick, aren't Spurs a kick in the head?

Spoke to come contacts within the Spurs "circle of trust" and they told me that they are indeed tinkering with a change and "Ya'll Ready For This" will be no more. They used "The Game" by Motorhead on Sat. night, which is also the intro music for Triple H. But I have been told nothing is set in stone and they are still trying different songs, etc.

Personally, I'm a fan of "Crystal Planet" by Joe Satriani to become the new intro song. You can listen to it on MySpace...

http://www.myspace.com/joesatriani

Also, I have heard that the team intro video played on the jumbotron before the starting lineups will be to the theme from Last of the Mohicans, which is being used in the Nike Football commercials taht feature Stephen Jackson and Shawne Merriman.

If you're going to go there, why not just use Motorhead's "Ace of Spades"?

You could start the prelims with the "Imperial March" from Star Wars, then when the first player hits the floor, cut to the opening riff of "Ace of Spades."

Tell me that wouldn't be intense...

If they get rid of "Get Ready for This (Y'All Ready for This)," I hope they play up the "bad guys" image. This would be fun for a change, anyway.

Have received final word from people in the know that the new intro song won't be anything anyone's ever heard before. It's going to be a custom-made song. Kinda like when radio and TV stations get companies to create music for their "branding." ESPN themes, NBA on NBC themes, etc., those are all created by companies for those networks. The new Spurs starting lineup (from what I understand) will be created by a composer who does stuff like that.

It would be the first time I ever heard Spurs fans chant "bullshit".

i remember in the old "arena" days against the Warriors and Blazers when calls went against the Spurs the crowd chanting that.

If what he comes out is a remix of "Y'all Ready for This", I'm suing.

Mavs playoff series 2006 at the AT&T.
One other time I remember it during the 2005-06 season as well.

Why not put Beno on the job of creating the new theme? He can't have that much to do at this and he's got experience in the music industry. How can anyone forget his work in the hit machine Roxette?
