Dirk was awesome! Leading his team to victory over the US!! Oh..wait....
Its ok though because he still lead his team to a Gold Medal that year!! Oh..wait..
No biggie, at least he can still look back at his NBA title! Oh...wait...

I saw that game; it was exciting till the half court shot. Ha and it took a miracle shot to beat the German team (which btw doesn't have any good players except Dirk)... how embarrasing.

Well considering he was going against 12 "All-Stars" and since the German national team is basically Dirk + 11 guys that even I could take 1-on-1, it's incredible that he almost singlehandedly beat USA. Although on the other hand, that US team was an absolute abortion, how the fuck is Stephon Marbury representing America?

On this I agree.

I did as well and I agree with this also.
Dirk is an awesome player and had a great game. The point of my post is that there are, IMO, too many players and fans these days who seem to think that having a great game is more important than actually winning the game or a title. I don't believe Dirk is like that. I can only guess because I have never met the dude and unless you have met the man, you cannot actually know what he is about (and those of you who will post and say you do...you don't) but judging by the way he plays the game, most of the time, winning seems to be most important to him. My post was generated toward the thread starter who seems to be one of those fans who cares more about individual production than the final outcome.

Way for Dirk to step it up and carry his team to a moral victory in a tune-up game against a team that could only look good against Angola.
If only he could have carried his team to victory he'd be mentioned with the likes of Jasikevicius and Arroyo.

I now know how horrible Team USA was in 2004. Lamar Odom couldn't defend Dirk.
