Report: Kimmel banned from MNF
FOXSports.com

Talk about cutting straight to the punch line.

It took Jimmy Kimmel a matter of 10 minutes to do what Dennis Miller needed two years to accomplish — getting the heave-ho from "Monday Night Football."

ESPN will no longer allow Kimmel any guest appearances on MNF after the ABC late-night host made several jokes about recently-fired analyst Joe Theismann, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

Kimmel, who joined Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski in the booth during the third quarter of the Giants' 31-10 win over the Falcons, joked about where Theismann was, insinuated that Kornheiser got Theismann fired (their on-air chemistry was often a topic of debate last season), and later remarked, "I'd also like to welcome Joe Theismann, watching from his living room with steam coming from his ears."

Kimmel's comments were "classless and disappointing," said Jay Rothman, ESPN's MNF producer, according to the Times. "It was cheap. The more he went on, the worse he got."

Rothman then affirmed that Kimmel would not be invited back.

Reached by the Times, Theismann said he was more amused than annoyed by Kimmel's comments.

"I don't have an opinion about what people say, but it's nice to know you're missed," Theismann said. "It's interesting that people remember me."

Theismann later added that MNF "has become Tony Kornheiser's show."

i will never understand the execs need to put "A fan's perspective" up in the booth.

there's already a fan's perspective involved in every telecast - it's called "the viewer."

what does it possibly add to the telecast to hear a broadcaster saying the same things that we are already saying/thinking in our own living rooms.

Did he say this on the bench next to Steve Nash and Stoudawhiner whining about "oppurtunities taken from us"

Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, and Mike Dikta should take over.

I'm sick of Kornhole-izer ruining MNF.

No way.

I thought they weren't all that bad.

They were much better than the current MNF group.

can't agree with that. as much as this current group struggles at times (although I do like Jaws - even if he is an Iggle), that group was awful, just awful awful.

Keep Kimmel off the airwaves. Please.

M&M are complete garbage .... but so is the current lineup of Kornholio and Jaws.

Maybe someone can locate Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf.

I always liked Merlin Olsen and Dick Enberg, although DE has lost a step these last few years.

Was it my imagination or does Olsen still do radio?

First off, ESPN sucks.

Secondly, this is what they deserve for always cross-promoting their shows with ABC. No one gives a crap. I dont want to see any dudes from desperate housewives in there or any other show. MNF was bad on ABC and it has gone to ESPN to be worse. There is one reason to tune in and thats when there are fantasy implications.

Does anybody else think that Carrolla was carrying Kimmel for a few years there. Now that he's on his own = not funny.

People still listen to the tv broadcast? Mute the tv and put on the radio broadcast. Much better.

Jimmy should have said "what the fuck was that?" on live TV. ESPN doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

Usually, you couldn't shut Joe Theismann up in the broadcast booth. That was until that night in 1994 when Mike Patrick made a reference to Lawrence Taylor. Poor Joe didn't utter a word for the next 10 minutes. :lol

I personally don't care for Kimmel. I think he's a bit of a fucktard. That being said, I agree with him in this case. He was just Jimmy Kimmel, no better or worse than usual. I think he embarrassed them by bringing up a fired employee, that's all.

This is true. Corolla on the other hand has always been damn funny even without Kimmel. Kimmel always comes off as a smarmy prick IMo.
