It's not on tv again? That sucks, I have free preview of the NBA channel this week, and none of the Spurs games seem to be on it!

It's not televised here in Michigan either. Pisses me off. I don't recall other preseasons having such poor TV coverage.

Pistons got smoked against Dallas last night, so It'll be interesting to see how the Pistons respond.

Dice is now a starter alongside Sheed...(I don't like it). We suck at rebounding. We still shoot jumpers. Billups has looked much more aggressive this year. Rip should be in the game after missing the last few due to an injury. Flip and Hayes have been our best bench players by far. Expect Stuckey to try to attack the rim and get fouled. Don't be surprised if he gets 9 or 10 free throws tonight.

Maxiell should play a larger role, but needs to hit his jumper and his FT's. Amir Johnson and Nazr are probably out due to minor injuries.

Chiekh Samb is a long term project. But he's a very good blocker, and has a sweet midrange jumper. And as 7 footers don't grow on trees, we'll hold on to him and let him grow in the D league.

Afflalo has shown more than I expected so far. But him being a defensive stopper in College, has not at all translated at this level. He's active, runs screens kinda like Rip, and has the ability to put it on the floor and attack. Minutes may be his bigggest problem. Unless we have an injury, Hayes, Stuckey and Flip are all going to be ahead of him.

Mejia and Dupree are on the bubble of getting cut. (we have 16 players currently) IMO it should be Dupree that we get rid of...but every game may count as to what the team does w/ the roster.

Alright, that's your Pistons update!

Hope you all have a good season, and hopefully that rematch can happen.....

Elson's production is through the roof at the moment...

10-3 in 7 minutes? Are you kidding me?

He was impressive last game as well.

I wonder how bad that ankle injury really is? They're now saying he won't play against Washington either.

FIRST QUARTER: SPURS STARTERS

The Spurs went with a starting lineup of Tony Parker, Brent Barry, Ime Odoka, Tim Duncan and Francisco Elson.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was not on the bench for the second straight game. Once again it was assistant coach Mike Budenholzer calling the offensive plays. Elson might like Budenholzer's play selection - Elson scored two of the Spurs' first four baskets and scored six points in the first six minutes of the game.

Charting Tony Parker:
- He had an assist and two rebounds in the first seven minutes of the game.
- Parker drew a foul with 4:48 left in the first quarter on the first time he attacked the basket. He made one of two free throws.
- Parker had an assist on Keith Langford's jump shot with 4:02 left.
- Parker made a driving basket with 3:30 left.
- Darius Washington replaced Parker with 3:13 left in the quarter.

Elson had 10 points in the first quarter and the Spurs finished the period with a 28-25 lead.

I heard yesterday that Amir's ankle is the worst spraind ankle Arnie Kander has ever seen....

Coming from the guy who initially treated Grant Hill's injury, that ain't good. I suppose it's good that we're keeping him out of essentially meaningless preseason play, I'm just worried that Flip will use it as an excuse to not play him, and with our lack of quality depth at the 4 that ain't good.

On the game: I'm liking the way Afflalo's attacking.

Dupree misses the gimme.

Negatives so far: Stuckey's been fairly non-aggressive and his jumpers aren't falling. Spurs shooting 61% to the Pistons' 32%. Where's the D? We're the Pistons, not the Suns! :madrun

Positives: ...Afflalo's playing well. Chekh's looking good as well. Oh, and only 2 TOs so far.

Agreed. Brent seems to have a point to prove, and he wasn't exactly chopped liver last season.

And Elson definitely seems more comfortable in the system, which with the athleticism he brings to the table, could be a very good sign. Especially if he keeps hitting that jumper.

I'm also curious to see if Bonner will experience any of the Oberto-effect. He seems to be taking a bigger role this year, as well.

Spurs start second half on an 9-0 run. They're now up by two bushels and a unit.

Tim seems to be draining that jumper pretty consistently, and he's not even going bank. Maybe Engelland's finally getting to him?

It's hard to tell without being able to watch, but it sounds like he's been a lot more solid fundamentally, and has just been generally more productive and made less mistakes.

Though he just missed an alley-oop.

We need to sign Washington, seriously.

Udoka and Elson sound like they are playing fantastic.

Gotta temper it with who they are playing, and who they are putting out there.

No offense, but they are putting out second and third stringers.

True, but they've been getting run with our third-stringers as well. Probably guys that won't make it past camp.

And even in the first half of games, which aren't usually AS painfully pointless, they've sounded productive.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but I'm still encouraged by what I've heard so far.

That, and and if I changed at this point, I would never be able to find my posts.

Yeah Brent's preseason has me thinking back to 04 when i imagined him running along side Parker and Ginobili bagging those running 35 foot threes like in Seattle, or behind the back alley oops to Elson.

Im really really hoping, if this is his last year, that Brent goes out with a bang.

Championship, great year, so he can relax at home in Cali and have "no regrets"

And people would probably still wonder what the hell went wrong with Brent Barry.

Judging by his stat line, I'd say he is doing pretty good, but not good enough to bump anybody off that 15th roster spot.

Just a little follow-up. Stuckey joins the group of Pistons on the injured list with a left ankle sprain, the exact same location as the injuries to both Rip and Amir. That's four guys injured in preseason. Damn.

The game seemed very long to me tonight.

I wasn't paying attention to the scoreboard and thought for a minute that the end of the third was the end of the game.
It seemed like it was that time of the night.

It looks like we have some good talent in the new guys. I look forward to seeing whom we keep.
