I am looking forward to this I have never been to a casino and hope to god I come back with a dollar to my name. I just dont know what or where to take him other then the casinos. Clubs, Strip Clubs, Bars, anything would be much appreciated. Thanks

I tell you what buddy. Nothing beats Las Vegas but since you've never been to a casino before, you won't know any better and most likely it'll be fun enough for you. If you ever get the chance and have the cash, hit up Vegas and you'll never go back to Lake Charles or others again.

I've been to Vegas...I still like going to Lake Charles. I like both.

I haven't been since the Hurricane, but before that it was a pretty fun place to go.

Doesn't have all the shows or night life of Vegas...but the Casinos are good...and they do have some shows from time to time...including Vegas performers.

LA has it's own kind of atmosphere...swamps, cajun food...it's fun going there....I will say this...the food in the Casinos in Lake Charles kinda sucks...but the restaurants around the area are good.

I liked New Orleans a hell of a lot better than Vegas...again, haven't been since the hurricane...but New Orleans is mystical...Vegas is, well it's Vegas. Lot more to do in New Orleans than Vegas.

thanks man...and its not the lack of money..... its just the timing of things and peoples schedules....but i cant go or let vegas be my first stop i have to make sure I can control my self first

and whott do you know any spots to eat at and chill at other the casinos and how many are there its just those two right?

There are all sorts of restaurants in and around there...stuff like chilis, as well as local restaurants. I can't think of any names of the local restaurants but they're in town more...If you are up late, Waffle House is right there in front of the casinos. Basically any local restaurant you eat at in Lousiana, chances are it's a pretty good one if you like gumbo and stuff like that.

And last time I was there, it was just the two casinos that have all the Riverboats on Lake Charles...might be more there now, might be less.

I haven't been in about 6 years so, not really sure of all the details.

I just know one thing...the food inside the casinos...the buffets...they suck. Taste like cafeteria food.

From my pre-Katrina experience, Lake Charles has two resorts that will give you something more than the usual gaming-on-a-boat experience. L'Auberge is pretty fancy pantsy with high minimums and decent restaurants. It's worth a look if you want more of an upscale feel. The Coushatta resort about an hour north of Lake Charles is less fancy but enormous and has crap like an indoor pool which should be nice during the winter -- it's worth going to if you are staying more than one night.

We did have a lot of fun at Isle of Capri. They had opened up a third gaming boat and most folks seemed to be unaware of it, so it was uncrowded and we could all sit at the same blackjack table. The food did suck ass though. If everything is the same as it was pre-Katrina and you only have one night, I would eat at L'Auberge and gamble at Isle of Capri. The Inn of the Bayous was a cheap place to stay near L'Auberge.

If you like seafood, go to Pats of Henderson located at the 210 loop & Legion. It is the best seafood anywhere around.

If you want something closer to the Vegas feel, without going all the way to Vegas....

Try Shreveport...it's got a lot of bright lights like the Casinos...a lot more Vegas type shows...more variation in the restaurants...

It's kinda like a mini Vegas, only without all the theme hotels, hookers and people passing out flyers for hookers...

Word of advise. Watch it if you play Texas Holdem in Lake Charles. There are some very good players that play there every night and everyone knows each other and all the dealers. It is not unlike in the movie Rounders, when they are in Atlantic City, and they are all talking and having a good time, till a stranger comes to the table, then they all shut up, look at each other and all think, here is some fresh meat for the lions. :lol

I heard Isle of Capri was not good (money pay-off wise)

I have been to and recommend both L’Auberge and to Coushatta in Kinder

Coushatta is only 40 mins north so it is worth the trip.

lol

I have to admit I have never heard that before from anyone about vegas...but everyone has a different expirence...sometimes people go there get into fights at the club and shoot at people and leave them limp for the rest of their lives....and other times people leave vegas with more then they came with...sometimes its a STD and sometimes its a pocket full of stones.....so I willing to say it just depends
