A lot of SoCal is screwed. Here's the best map I've seen yet of the areas impacted:

Too big to try and post here.

They think some of the big original fires were arson. The winds have caused major havoc spreading the fires but are supposed to die down tomorrow.

The one in Malibu was caused by a power line downed from the winds. The one in Orange County is arson. Not sure about the rest.

I check the weather on Weather.com, so I just looked at San Diego and all it says is "Smoke" I honestly can't say I've ever seen that as a condition

Shit, the Fire Dept thinks it was a firefighter who set that huge fire in Orange County.

Fires in October seems very strange. When is peak fire season over there? I would have thought it was July to September.

Over here the peak season is Jan-March, so an October fire equates to April, and i can't ever remember April fires.

September/October is the usual fire season here.

"Fires in October seems very strange'

It's the Santa Ana winds, east to west, hot and extremely dry, 10% humidity, often very strong, that fan any fires that in other months would be insignificant. This autumn has been preceded by a long severe drought in S. California.
