S.A. getting new sports station
WOAI's "The Ticket" will have competition soon. A new all-sports radio station will sign on here early next year — an affiliate of ESPN radio that will incorporate both national and local programming.

A familiar voice — former TV and KTSA sportscaster Paul Alexander — will host a midday talk program as well as handle sports updates during morning drive, Mark Landis — BMP Radio's director of programming (for S.A. English-language station), reported today.

Yes, it turns out that BMP radio, which earlier couldn't come to terms with Alexander on a KTSA deal, found another outlet for the guy known as "The Coach" to broadcast here.

Its Spanish music station KZDC, a la Radio Unica, at 1250 on the AM dial (right next door to talk competitor WOAI, will be transformed into sports station KZDC. Landis said the Spanish station primarily consists of syndicated music programming, but added that local employees likely would be absorbed by other BMP stations.

"It's a much more prominent role for Paul," Landis said of Alexander's new KZDC gig. The specific station launch date has yet to be determined.

Among new sports shows coming to San Antonio is the popular "Mike and Mike" morning program on ESPN radio. It stars the quintessential odd couple — gentle and nerdy Mike Greenberg and tough "man's man" Mike Golic. Go to www.espnradio.com for the streamed broadcast to get a feel for the duo.

As for which games might be broadcast on the new outlet — Cowboys, Spurs — Landis said it's too early to tell. However, he added: "The sky's the limit for us. We're going after as many good things for San Antonio as we can."

Duh, they played yesterday, hello McFly. They have a whole other station to talk about tonights game with the Suns. The first and main story was the Cowboys lost yesterday. THEN he talked about the Spurs. You can't have it all so sit back and chill the hell out.

For someone who says Ticket760 sucks 24/7 you seem to know everything they say. If your Harry Potter ass does not call in the new ESPN radio show like Mighty Mouse will? You will have lost all your sports status and credibility you will become another Greg More a Man who hides from the truth, and thus no one will ever take you serious next time you tell them to chill.

Fuck all the chilling! it's time to get San Antonio radio fired up like it was in 1999* !
are you going to do your part, or Pooh out?............................

Duh...learn to read. I know this is a website, we're talking about SportsTalk San Antonio. Which is a LOT better now than it was over the past 10 yrs. The big story on Monday was the fact THAT the Cowboys lost to the Eagles. A CLOSE second...and let me repeat that....SECOND was the Spurs/Suns game later that night.

Taylor would've been an idiot to lead off his show with Spurs/Suns. When the bigger story was Sunday's Cowboys game.

mike taylor your show did the spurs more harm than it did good. all the negativity and mindless babble that your show spews out is sorry. when your show first came on the air waves it was refreshing to hear something totally different from the others that we previously had on the radio, but as time has gone by you have become an outsider who dosen't understand San Antonio or the way the fans feel about their team. you are out of touch with the listeners and you seem more and more lost everytime i tune in. i think that the guys on the sports grind do a much better job than you and you seem to resent that. i also wish you would stop saying go sports go!!!!

It's all about the ratings. If T Park showed folks how to make funnel cakes while in the nude brought ratings he would be on today.

Stop listening to the Ticket760.

There is another sports talk station, with much more local sports shows. 1250 AM The Zone with Paul Alexander, Thompson Brothers, and Chris Duel.

I'd like to listen to them, but they need to change out the 9V battery they use to power their transmitter.

Their signal usually craps out about 15 miles outside the city limits.

ESPN 1250 is totally at a disadvantage because of the lack of a website and on-line streaming
They were supposed to roll one out in mid April but that got pushed back to June

Let’s see if that date doesn’t get pushed back.

I’ve been listening to Taylor and (Joe) Jim Bob at work via the net (can’t pick up am radio in my office), they’re kind of growing on me

We’ll see………….:wakeup

Mike Taylor grew on me a long time ago. He started kind of rough but straightened out. The only thing I wish he would change is when he's signing off he says, " Go sports go, stay classy San Antonio". The "Go sports go" I wish he would change it or not say it at all. I feel he's mocking our "Go Spurs Go!" slogon, but that's just me!

Great idea. I'm thinking we pair a sales guy with a golf guy. Neither should have morning show experience, just to keep it fresh. Neither should have had a weekday show ever, to keep it fresh. Yeah! I am digging this idea. I think it's gonna own!

how is taylor doin? i kinda miss him here in dallas.

oh well, the ticket in dallas is far superior than ESPN here in dallas. A good morning show is the cornerstone of a good day.

if you ever have time to stream the ticket in dallas, try the morning show on weekdays. 60/40 ratio of sports/current events, guy talk, social talk

Since we are on the subject of Mike Taylor does anyone know who came up with the term "Taylor Trash"?

There is also a man on KTSA that has a show Taylor's Trash.
