Protester Desiree Farooz confronts Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a photograph taken today by Charles Dharapak of the Associated Press.

Rice was preparing to testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee when she encountered Farooz inside the hearing room. Farooz had painted her hands red, apparently to symbolize her group's claim that members of President Bush's cabinet have blood on their hands because of the way they've waged war in Iraq.

The White House reaction:


White House spokeswoman Dana Perino, referencing the incident and calling it “despicable,” said it “seems that, increasingly, Congress is being run by Code Pink.”

Ehh, maybe but there are quite a few of border fence guys running to be the nominee of one of the two major parties in this country. See Tancredo, Tom.

And he'll get between 0.5 and 1.0% of primary votes. The Demos have their share of marginal nutjobs running as well. When you begin to think there are no nuts on your side, well, it's time to look in the mirror.

It actually appears to be just the far left wingnuts that are disrupting congressional hearings and accosting Congressmen and women in the hallowed halls of the Capitol.
