Well, I just dropped a small fortune. We get a lot kids.

I didn't buy the candy I reeeaaallly wanted because then I'd have to back to the store and buy some more.

Blech! I don't want to be known as the house that gives out crappy candy! :lol

I was gonna wait until the day before, but I thought the pickings would be slim. Target was already starting to pull the Halloween candy, which means the Christmas candy is coming out.

I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll even be home on Halloween, so I haven't gotten any candy. Don't imagine I'll get too many kids here, anyway.

However, I do appreciate any excuse to have Smarties, M&Ms, and Reese's (pieces and cups) around the house.

My oldest THINKS he can hide his stash from me, but I always find it :nerd

I'll get my fill of chocolate. My oldest doesn't like Butterfingers (my fave!), Reese's cups, and can't eat anything with nuts (allergy). My youngest doesn't like Snickers, so I hit the jackpot all around!

Neither of my kids will go trick or treating this year.
My 17 year old stopped years ago.
My almost 13 year old I tried to convince that this year was really her last shot to go with a group of friends, but she's not interested.

Eat some of the good stuff for me! :lol

I agree.
I told my daughter that if she didn't want to do the whole costume thing that we could do face paint and "make" her into something that way.
She seems to be more excited about seeing the little ones and giving out the candy.

I looove Halloween. There are no kids in my sister's neighborhood but there are a ton around here so they are coming here at noon and we will start baking cookies and cupcakes to hand out with the candy. We have these giant inflatable things to put out on the lawn and I have already started downloading the spooky music to play. My nephews are gonna get a real kick out of it this year.

That's my play. The last time I gave out candy, I think I got 8 doorbell rings all night, and got stuck with candy I don't like, because that's what I buy to distribute (so that I won't eat it). A lot of folks go to their schools or churches now for trick or treat. Fine with me. I bring home takeout, and sequester myself in the master suite until about 9PM watching TV, then I only turn on a few lights after that.

We had house in our neighborhood that gave out toothbrushes; my mom always made us go there! When my youngest was in a Christian school they gave us fortune cookies with Bible verses to hand out. My all time favorite Halloween candy is Smarties---my kids pick them out of their loot bags and save them for future "bribing".

The big kids who don't dress up annoy me. I don't mind giving them candy, but if they're old enough to get a job and buy their own damn candy, they have to work for it a little. And I get bored with teenage girls just dressing slutty, like that's a costume, but that's another thread. :)

We will probably hide out too. :lol There's a Spurs road game that night, right?

We'll just hide upstairs. I'm not going to deal with the dogs going crazy every time I have to answer the door. I might put a free-for-all bucket of candy on the doorstep or something :lol

I used to get pecans in my bag all the time. Pissed me off because we had two pecan trees in the backyard, I didn't need any extras. But those are still infinitely better than those nasty orange peanut things :vomit:

My mother gives me a big bag of shelled pecans from the trees at her house every year when I go home to Oklahoma. I like to grab a handful out of the bag in the freezer every once in while just to snack on. It brings back some of those great kid memories. I would be ecstatic if someone gave me pecans for Halloween. :spin

We didn't have many trick or treaters come to our house. The whole neighborhood was dark and we seemed to be the only ones that were giving anything out. But we did manage to give out a lot of candy and a 12 pack of Ramen Noodles, which were a big hit to the teenagers. I really only gave them out to those without costumes.

I haven't had any here, so far.

I kind of expected that since my apartment building is somewhat tucked away and dark. Also, it's really foggy and misty here today, so my guess is that there's a lot of haunted house and mall action for the trick-or-treaters.

Glad I went with the gut instinct and only bought a couple of small bags of candy.

Dear Lord, all the decorations and cars stopping to come to my house caused a traffic jam on our street, a bus couldn't get out :lol

We had about 20 bags of candy and we are almost out. I came inside for a short break cus the smoke machine was making my contacts dry. My family is passing out the rest.

Next year though we are gonna do the decorations, smoke machine etc but also a graveyard and haunted house. It's gonna be fucking awesome! I hope we cause another traffic jam and people start honking their horns like idiots again.

We don't get any kids at our place, which sort of surprised me, because I know there are kids in the complex. Guess they just hit the neighborhood behind us. I wanted to go out with SFIE and the dog and see the kids trick or treating, but I had a massive headache and curled up in fetal position on the couch instead. Good times.

I went out as a pro poker player. I wore really dark shades and a big black jacket ala Phil Helmuth. I even walked around saying "With my DVD, you'll dodge bullets baby!" but no one knew what the hell I was talking about.

One smartass dad said, "Hey look it's dog the bounty hunter" in a really sarcastic way.

I just walked away from one house. They had their lights on and stuff so I figured it was all good. Then the lady answers the door like I was just some visitor. I said "TRICK OR TREAT BABY!!!" and she gives me this blank stare and furrows her brow like she didn't know it was October 31st. Long story short, she goes well ok hold let me get you some stuff and I see her walking down the hallway with V8 and a box of triscuits. I just booked it.

Had a decent haul overall.

A neat trick for next year is to have an air horn behind your back and just as the kids grab the candy out of the bowl.....

I watched it happen to several kids last night at one house. Hilarious

Really only used on bigger kids.
