I wouldn't root for the Pats for a million dollars. And I'm serious. Robert Kraft could wave a giant cardboard check for $1M right in my face and I'd shove it straight up his ass.
38-34 Colts would be fitting for as hyped as this game will be (yes I realize it's the same score as last year's AFC title game but that was also the score in the previous Colts-Pats game in Indy only the Pats had the 38 that time).

If Harrison can't go, I like the Pats by 10+.
The Colts organization won't say it but Harrison was most likely held out of the Panthers game specifically so he would be able to go in the NE game. Same with Keiaho, he is arguably the best tackler on the team and they need him more against NE than Carolina.
Look for Ron Meeks to throw some curveballs on defense as well because if they play their Cover 2 Tampa for the whole game they will get abused in the slot by Welker similar to how they abuse other teams in the slot with Clark.

The Cowboys are 6-1 and only have a 1/2 game lead. The Giants beat Philly in an ugly game, barely edged the horrible Jets, beat up on Atl, the free-falling 49ers, and barely edged a horrible Miami team. They did what they had to do, which was take advantage of the multitude of horrible teams lineup up nicely on their schedule. After the bye they get the Cowboys, Detroit, a weak Minn team, the Bears, Philly, Washington, Buffalo, and get lucky to get the Pats in the last game of the season when Brady and Co. might not even be playing. The Giants worry me because they have the single easiest schedule known to football, not because they are a good team. The Cowboys just need to take care of business against the weaker opponents in conference and come out with some wins over GB and Carolina in tough matchups. Even if the Giants make the playoffs due to their easy schedule they'll more than likely get dispatched in the first game.

Yeah, the Colts actually have less points allowed than NE, although they've had their bye already, they've held their last 3 opponents to a combined 4 touchdowns, so even if they hadn't had the bye yet, the defenses would probably be very close in points allowed.

COLTS: 31
PATRIOTS: 21
Some Thoughts:
1. The Patriots' defense is overrated, and the Colts' defense is still underrated. (Obviously, this presumes a healthy Sanders.)
2. Compare the overall records of the teams Indianapolis has beaten vs. the teams NE has beaten. Under the circumstances, the Colts' 31 against Carolina was nearly as impressive as the Patriots' 52 against the 'Skins.
3. The Colts have been taking the Spurs' approach (conserve energy and personnel, a win is a win), while the Patriots have been playing like the Suns. A year from now, no one will care about the NE margin of victory in a meaningless game against a non-conference opponent ('Skins).
4. I do agree that the Colts are more likely to lose this game than the eventual playoff game.

Has Belichick shown anything this season to make you think he wouldn't run up the score on Indianapolis if given the opportunity? Of all the teams on the Patriots schedule, wouldn't you think Indy is the team Belichick would love to run up the score on the most considering we blocked them from a guaranteed SB win last season?

Some Thoughts:
1. The Patriots' defense is overrated, and the Colts' defense is still underrated. (Obviously, this presumes a healthy Sanders.)
At least five of the touchdowns New England has allowed were a result of their second string or third string players playing late in the fourth quarter of blowouts against the starters of Cleveland, Miami, and Washington.
In actuality, the Pats are really allowing about 12 points per game and beating teams on average by about 30 points per game.
NE's defense is NOT overrated. They've held both the Chargers and the Bengels (two very good offensive teams) to their lowest point totals of their respective seasons.
The only team to put up point on the Patriots were the Cowboys, and 7 points came from Dallas' defense. 20 points is the most NE's defense has allowed, and that's to a very prolific Cowboys offense. Dallas as a team was averaging 35 points up until they played New England.
As for the Colts' defense, they're not bad. And, yeah, Bob Sanders is a stud in every way a football player can be. But, even though they've played overall better competition than the Pats, the Colts have not yet played one good offensive team.

I can't tell whether you're joking about the score since that was the final in their AFC Championship match-up.
Pats win now that they have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Colts. It was still close when they didn't, but that extra talent at the WR position puts the Pats way over the top.

If the Colts are gigantic pussies (like the Cowboys, Chargers, Redskins, etc) then the Eff You TD will happen. If the Colts are who we thought they were, they'll stop that shit from happening on the field in fair gameplay.

I was not aware that they had been sitting their starters that much, but it should have occurred to me, considering some of the scores.
I still believe that we have been watching the Colts on cruise control so far this season. The Colts can win this game if they can limit possessions. Manning has been working on this strategy for the last two seasons. He doesn't put up the gaudy numbers like he used to, but the Colts have improved as a consequence.

I dont know if you can prove any of the "facts" you just presented, so all that was just a nice opinion about how many points a game they are really scoring and how much they are winning by. I have watched every one of their games this year, and they still have many starters if not all of them in towards the end of the game. If they arent pulling Brady out in blowouts, what do they care if their defenders are out there. And the Steelers also held the Bengals (who I dont think are a very good offense at all this year) to 13 points as well. And the Chargers werent a good offense at all when the Pats played them, which was obvious the game before, when they only put up a season low 14 points up against the Bears as well.
Im glad everyone has overreacted to the Pats putting up such great point totals against shitty defenses, while the Colts have still averaged 32 points a game against some really good defenses.

I still believe that we have been watching the Colts on cruise control so far this season.
This statement is what makes me truly believe the Colts will win on Sunday. Everything I've seen from the Patriots tells me they haven't held anything back all year. They've been playing all out in every way possible. With the Colts, they've some guys hurt and I don't think they've played a "complete" game where offense, defense and specials teams were all playing lights out, except for maybe the Saints game (we'll let Reggie's fumble go since he made up for it with 2 TDs).
Peyton has shown incredible patience. In past seasons, if the Colts went three and out or were forced to punt, you got the feeling that they wouldn't be able to come back since the defense wasn't as good as it is now. For a few years we needed to turn every possession into points. Now, if Peyton goes three and out, can't get a 1st down, gets picked off, the defense comes in and gets the ball back. And you know the offense has yet to show what it can really do on the field because Marvin has been hurt. Believe what you want to but Dungy and Polian are fooling everyone with the injury report... Marvin did not play last week specifically so he would be ready to go against the Patriots.
I would still pick the Colts to win this game if they had the same roster as say, the Miami Dolphins, but the defense has played with a chip on its shoulder all year. Only, nobody knows about it because the Patriots score 5, 6 TDs a week and get all the headlines. You look at the Colts D and see a unit that nobody gave a shot at the beginning of the season. Five new starters, young guys at cornerbacks wouldn't be able to get the job done, etc. Is anyone doubting Marlin and Kelvin now? Bob Sanders is an absolute stud, Ed Johnson has done phenomenal for an undrafted rookie FA. The Pats D has some bigger names and has been together longer, but I wouldn't bet against the Colts D, even in this game. Each week some team is expected to put enough points up to beat the Colts, and they get shut down. I don't know if the Colts D will be able to "shut down" the Pats, but I think of all the teams in the league they definitely have a shot.
Basically, the Colts seem like they're holding back while the Pats have all their cards on the table. And if a team that's playing as well as the Colts have this seasons is holding back, I can't wait to see what their hand looks like.

I think he meant it in the fact that a lot of people will just pick the Patriots because they see that they have pretty much dominated everyone so far, and so they just pick them, without doing any research, which you can't blame them either. The Pats have been absolutely superb. And don't get me wrong, there are people that look deep into the matchups, and feel that the Patriots are also the better team, thus picking the Pats.
Most people that pick the Colts are people that actually look a little deeper into the matchup, as opposed to the points that the Patriots have put on the boards so far this season. On paper, not many, if any are going to pick the Colts, unlike the Patriots. Does that make more sense to you now?

I'm going to say 41-21 Pats.
and JT it seems like 38-34 is a common score for these 2 teams.
I'd like it to be a good game.
Part of me wants to see the Colts win so people can still say the Pats will go undefeated even though they have a loss. :lol
And Part of me wants to see the Pats win big and go undefeated and play the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.
then lol Cutler and Denver can pull off thier 30 point upset win on the way to the Superbowl. :lol
I'm reaching but that be funny shit.
But I really think the Pats are scary good.
If they can beat the Colts by at least a convince 2 Tds then I really think they will go undefated in the regular season.
Then maybe 19-0?
Then them fucking 72 Fins can shut the hell up and have some company. :drunk
I'm glad that Brady and Manning play each other almost every year. Its nice to see the top 2 qbs play against each other a lot.
It should be a fun game.
I cant wait to watch it. :elephant

those who pick the Colts are experts....
those who pick the Pats are "experts"....
that's not homerism.
Oh brother. You again? Do you have to read into EVERYTHING?
"experts"...."experts." There, are you happy? Everyone has a quote now. Geez. :rolleyes You read waaaaaay too much into that.

This is going to be a pretty tight game. Both are equally good. I am hoping the Pats will take it. I really hate watching a game when you have one team that embarasses you and mops the field up with your ass.
Gimme a game anyday that will keep you on the edge of your seat making you wonder who will win it in the final seconds of play.
Now that is what I call amazing.
I don't think the Pats will be able to put the brakes on Addai. The emergence of the Colts running offense has been the biggest reason that Peyton has been able to burn significant time off the clock and preserve leads. But I do think this is one of those games where if he can't get the ball into the end zone and has to settle for field goals that it won't be enough.
And I know Dungy isn't known for playing games with the injury report like Belichick, but I don't think the injury to Marvin is as big as it's been played out to be. It just shows you the strength of the Colts offense without Harrison playing is still pretty good. He has less than 300 yards and only 1 TD on the season, Reggie and Dallas have been doing more than enough to pick up the slack. I really think they've been careful with Marvin just so he'd be good to go in this game. Marvin's going to play tomorrow, there's just no way he'd willingly sit out this game.

How many Total punts will there be in this game?
over/under 2.5?

As well as both defenses are playing they might be able to cover that in the first half.

I just looked at the injury list...the only listed as "out" was Morris, of course.
Lots of "questionables" and "probables."
I'd read though that Marvin is fighting to play tomorrow.
I'm kind of on the fence here about who to pick. I think the Colts are the better team all around, but the injuries or possible injuries are nagging at me. I'm considering picking NE. Any thoughts? :huh

Yea this is the best year I've seen the Colts play Defense. The Pats have always usually had a Pretty good D but I actually think the Colts D might be better this year. But even with the Good D's both offenses can move the ball at will. And you know they will probably go for it on 4th down a few times. At least the Pats will. :lol

Well, as efficient as the Colts have been running the ball this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dungy go for it on 4th and short if they're held to a yard or inches. But in general, a 4th down for the Colts means either Vinatieri or Hunter Smith is coming onto the field.

The doctors could tell Marvin that he'd die if he played in this game and he would still play. This game is too big for him to sit out. The spin on his injury right now is that the Colts were told that if Marvin plays and aggravates this injury, it might remain with him for the rest of his career, but if he rests a little bit longer that the chances of it lingering go down significantly. I find that extremely hard to believe for what was reported as a knee bruise. Also, Reggie and Dallas have been lights out with Marvin hurt. And I think Moorehead, Fletcher, and Gonzo will get some looks if Marvin doesn't play, but he will. It's the Patriots. He'll fucking play.
Belichick plays games with the injury report so looking at the Pats injury report each week is just a waste of time. Tom Brady's been on the injury report with a shoulder injury for practically his entire career and I don't see anything wrong with his shoulder.
As for who to pick, why would you pick against the Colts in this game? They have been overshadowed by the Patriots all year and are underdogs in their own dome. They'll play with a chip on their shoulder tomorrow, the same way the Patriots have been playing with a chip on their shoulder about the whole spying team. They're underdogs in the RCA Dome where they've won 13 straight games, including the AFC Championship... don't think that won't give the team motivation to knock the Pats off the front page for at least the next week.
I do think the Pats could win it and I picked the Colts with a confidence of 1 in Yahoo Pick Em just because it's going to be so close. I've already dubbed this game "The Revenge of Adam Vinatieri" just because of how close I think it will be.

Good points made...I really do think this could come down to the final play(s)...it would be awesome if Vinatieri put the nail in that coffin though! :hungry: All right...I'm picking the Colts...no looking back

"INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison has been told his knee pain is likely to persist through the remainder of the season and perhaps for the rest of his career, a source said Friday.
Clayton: Injury updates
Check out John Clayton for the latest news on injuries going into Week 9 of the 2007 NFL season. Injury report Insider
Harrison is a game-time decision for Sunday's showdown against the Patriots.
Specialists who have examined the receiver's knee do not view surgery as a viable option because there is no guarantee of success and would require six months of rehabilitation.
Colts coach Tony Dungy said Harrison has been medically cleared to play Sunday against New England. Harrison is urging the coaches to let him do just that.
But Dungy wants to make the best decision for the whole season, not just one midseason game.
The Colts issued a statement Friday regarding Harrison's status.
"The Indianapolis Colts have received no medical opinion" that verifies chronic trouble in Harrison's knee, the statement said.
"The club will have no further comment on this matter," the release said.
Harrison, in his 12th NFL season, did not play last week against Carolina. He also missed Indianapolis' Week 5 game against Tampa Bay.
He has 20 catches for 247 yards this season for the Colts.
