Agent: No Extension For Biedrins
October 29, 2007 - 1:42 pm
San Francisco Chronicle -
Bill Duffy, the agent for center Andris Biedrins, said Sunday there will be no contract extension for his client after negotiations with the Warriors on a long-term deal ended with "significant" differences on Biedrins' current value.

Duffy was seeking a five-year deal worth substantially more than $50 million. The Warriors' offer was substantially less than $50 million. The gap was large enough that talks did not progress to a serious degree.

"Their opinion is that they can pay him that next summer," Duffy said. "That's true, but we think his value will increase.

"The way this game is evolving, he's one of the top five young interior players in the NBA, in my opinion. He's 21 years old, he has the experience, he's confident and everyone knows his character and work ethic." [READ]

Would be great to see him in silver and black, but no way.

With Splitter the Spurs should get similar production at a fraction of the cost.

Biedrins is Samuel Dalembert redux...

I think he's worth 8-per or just over, but no more.

They're going to be forced to pay that much or more next year...

his only worth about 8m a year

gsw should just play it safe and let the market dictate his value....not many teams out there with capspace besides MLE+LLE to spend

i think the bulls should pull a trade for him, since they are in need of low post scoring....

lakers could trade browns expiring for him....+ draft picks just to make it work

you people are crazy. biedrins is a skilled, young, big man. he's easily worth $10 mil a year. warriors are going to let another good player get away. dumb bastards. no wonder they're perennial losers.

biedrins is proven in the NBA. splitter is not.

Biedrins biggest challenge is to start initiating action, taking responsibility for the game, rather than just playing basketaball as it happens, mental more than physical.

Same story with Bynum.

Biedrens is raw as hell. He has almost no offense other than the occasional dunk put back. He's just a freaky athlete and shotblocker at this point, sort of a white Adonal Foyle.

$10 million a year for Biedrins would be a Dampier-like deal at this point. The guy has yet to prove he's worth that.
