The Best

Witness to the awe-inspiring superiority of his game,
We stand mere mortals at the shadow of his legacy,
A soul without whom SA would never be the same,
Inspiring his teammates while driving his foes crazy,
He strides forward into history like very few are able,
Impeccable in spirit, his life story, worthy of a fable.

Selfless, thoughtful, considerate but seemingly boring,
He carries the weight of responsibility and expectation,
As if they’re lighter than a feather but just as uplifting,
Those who understand, distinguish his quiet perfection,
Those who in ignorance don’t recognize this certainty,
Inevitably meet their end, unruly victims of stupidity.

So raise your glass to him who brings you joy and honor,
For seldom do we face greatness as clear as we do today,
A man who in his prominence acts both pupil and mentor,
To our small band of legionaries seeking glory in the NBA,
Will lead this team to titles and laurels like no one else can,
Answering the age old question, who’s the man? Its Duncan.
