View Full Version : Who else is excited about the 2007-08 season?

For some reason I can't put my finger on, I can't wait for this season to tip off. Four championships is pretty nice but I see another one out there. This is a great opportunity to get it.

Perhaps it's because this roster is so sleek. Got rid of Beno Udrih and his uninspired play. Added a perfect Spur in Ime Udoka. Also added a couple exciting young players in Darius Washington and Ian Mahinmi.

The biggest opponent is health. This roster is pretty old but if the Spurs can ward off the aging process for eight months, I like their chances.

For some reason I am very excited about this season as well. I think its the whole "can they repeat" thing that has me excited. I want to see how Udoka and Bowen play together when the Spurs face someone like the Mavs or Suns.

Yeah very much so. More than last year for some reason.

You know what I would love to see is the Spurs go "Ape Sh*t Patriots" on everyone this season. Just give a big ol F.U. to the media and the league.

I'm just excited to finally start the season. In all their title runs, Spurs have the best chance this time of repeating. Partially because their core players seem to have gotten better with age and mostly because it seems that last season especially they have begun to separate themselves from the many wanna-be's in the league.

I also have a strange feel that Ginobili is going be even better than 2005 Ginobili this season....and that tells me all :)

Good point by 1Parker1. This is the first time that Manu is going to start the fresh. He did not play any summer ball and that should help out a lot. In the past Manu always seemed to have an injury early in the season. I hope the rest this summer changes that.

my whole body got hard when Tim mentioned repeat at the celebration. i don't know about you guys, but that said a lot about his intentions. his extension that he signed just added to that.

On the contrary, this is the least compelling REGULAR season for me in a long while. I'd have to say unless DW gets some PT, not really sure what we're getting thats different from last year with the entire roster intact and a year older and probably slower.

I'm counting the days until May with this squad. Regular season will be a snooze fest.

I'm also more excited than usual.

This team is experienced, a word I prefer over "old", they seem to be hungry for the repeat rather than content as defending Champions.

I like the little I've been able to gleam from training camp and interviews.
They know how hard this season will be with the "target" on their backs.
I expect a little "snooze fest." I expect to lose games that we should win.
But come March I expect this team to be more than ready. Physically. Mentally.

And Duncan will lead his team again through the playoffs to the Championship.

Never been excited like that about a new season.

The feeling is so good.

The challenge so big.

Everything is in place for a great scenario with ups and downs, pleasures and pains.

The reward will be somptuous.

Let's start the show.

Come on! GO SPURS GO!!!

Oh, God, yes. More excited than the last couple of seasons (though the last minute events with Beno and Tim and DWash have me really geared up). I'm so ready to get this started.

I have a REALLY good feeling about this season. The way I see it, we've got a fantastic shot to repeat. We're only going to get better, barring injuries. And the upside is that if it doesn't happen - well, hell, of course not, it's an even year!

I think the spurs ended this off-season on a really strong note and might have just set the tone for the upcoming season.

This might be the first time where everyone is happy with the status going into the year. Plus the timing of the Beno trade was perfect.

I am very excited. I cant wait for the Mavs to kick that Spurs ass again this year. After November 15th, this place will be shitting their pants about how to match up with Dallas or how they will be praying for another team to eliminate them to save them the scare. I cant wait for that! I also know that we stand in their way of a 5th title. :clap :clap :clap

Health permitting, the Spurs repeat.

I'm sure the players want it for Tim first, and themselves second. I'm less sure whether Pop is as driven for a repeat Title.

The line-up is looking great. Bringing over Sanikidze would be icing.

timvp you had a golden opportunity and you blew it

look i mean was it so hard to say this instead:

Seriously i mean did you intentionally avoid saying this? It would have been the funniest timvp quote of the season thus far

You sure did win the title but the Mavs are still a matchup nightmare for the Spurs. They also pose the biggest threat and a team who can realistically eliminate the Spurs in a 7 game series. They proved that in 2006. :spin

Add me to the list!

We may be old, but it's the deepest Spurs team I've seen in a long while, and I like the way the team is slowly but surely moving to get younger.

I think we'll see a lot of Bonner this year (good thing), and I think Elson will be much better, while Udoka will fit in just fine.

The team feels more focussed than they have been for any other repeat chance. *knock on wood* Injuries aside, I think we do the league again.

Man I'm terribly excited for this season. I don't know why either but I do know that this is the most excited I've been for a season to start in a few years. I hope they come out blazing right out of the gate and they never look back.

I'm very excited about Washington. I hope he pans out as the main backup.

You possibly will be okay in your chances of repeating. However, that doesnt change the fact that the Mavs are very capable of knocking off the Spurs in a 7 game series and vice versa. They will be the biggest threat and the major roadblock for the Spurs to earn that 5th title. :)

I wanted to start a thread named

EXCITMENT IS IN THE AIR !!1

But I didn't
No matter that this season will be incrediable, with Bulls and Boston on the East side and the west powers as Dallas and Suns (which I know the spurs fans do not afraid and the hell I do not know why).
Denver if helthy, they can put up a strong statment as Utah with Boozer playing his best game of a career with youn PG on his side.

There are much more things we can talk about coming into this 62nd National Basketball Association season but, all in all the spurs are in main attencion to us all.

Fuck the spurs means so much to taht it is beyond normality!

very excited about the Spurs, and this is the most interested in the rest of the league that I have been in years.

biggest concern: Horry's leave of absence throws off his timing / training and he never gets into the kind of shape/ groove needed to be a difference maker in the playoffs.

most excited about: watching two lock-down perimeter defenders wreck havoc on the Suns and Mavs, a rested Manu, and watching to see if this turns into the most potent offensive team in the Duncan Era.

I'm excited about the repeat bid. I'm also excited at the 11 mil that Tim left for future free agent aquisitions in extending two years along with Pop. That sets a magnificent tone of winning and teamwork for this franchise. The franchise is now at its all time peak and I expect a couple more championships before Duncan retires. Also glad the roster is intact and Beno is gone.
