thats one ugly ass mo fo!!! and honestly if u think of it...houston may not be a great fit for him. he is a low post scorer, and rockets gett all their post pts from yao, and yao will play around 32-35 min a game. meaning he wont get touches or enough chances to get into a rythm. yao sucks at passing out of double teams, scola wouldve fit a hell of alot better with the team that drafted him...

Tonight's Scola performance was hilarious. He did virtually nothing...mostly because he couldn't get on the court. I'm sure he will play better as the season progresses (and quite quickly) but he was incredibly underwhelming tonight.
Oh, just for the record.

Scola cannot overcome the greatness that is Chuck Hayes.

Everyone knows Scola will be fouled a lot because of his swift moves to the basket. I hear Chuch Hayes is already giving him tips on FTs and changing his stroke to copy Hayes. :smokin

People need to give Scola a break. Let him adjust to his teammates and the league a little bit. Yao was held scoreless in his NBA debut as well, and he turned out okay.

He have chance because Van Gundy no longer coach there. If Van Gundy still coach after all turnover in pre season and play perform in first game Scola may never set foot on NBA courts again.

I wonder how Scola felt after his first NBA game featured Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady have a private contest of who could put up the most number of terrible shots (Kobe was often triple teamed).

Kobe: 13/32 and 9 missed FTs.

32 doesn't factor in he shot 27 freethrows...
You figure at least ten-twelve more shot attempts where he was fouled.
45 points...on 42 or 44 shots.
No wonder his wrist is killing him.

So after each good game by Scola!!!, his fans will start a new thread and after each bad game, his haters will start another thread ?
It's just way too soon to decide if Scola will be a bust or not.
I've only watched the first quarter of this game and Scola didn't look good at all (you can blame too his teammates for not giving him the ball) but it's just a very very very small indication that he could be a bust.

Good game for Scola in the extended minutes Adelman gave him.
One interesting thing I noted during the game, though:
It might be early in the season, but it's starting to look as if Mutombo simply cannot give the Rockets extended minutes anymore. If Yao gets into foul trouble, the Rockets are forced to go primarily with Battier/Hayes/Scola at the PF/C positions. I think that's an exploitable matchup for the Spurs, especially on the boards.

Scola threads don't belong in the Spurs forum anymore.
He's not a Spur and his existence doesn't really effect the Spurs.
Thanks.

lol yeah Scola is going to be fire for the Rockets in the low post. He's a perfect compliment for Yao and also both of them are familiar with the new high post offense as it is similar to how most FIBA teams play.

I think it was mentioned previously on here that Adelman has a tendency to use the power forwards as backup centers when the primary center is on the bench.
