$99.00 ?
Considering a season or two of top grade trash that passes for network television shows goes for 40 or 50, I'd pay 100 to have every finals victory in Spurs history. I just wanted to make sure that the production is good and it's not done in a shitty manner.

Even though I watched every game of the '99 finals I don't recall most of the action since I was pretty buzzed at the time and it's been over 8 years.

Spurs Championship box set short on extras, losing games
Updated Oct. 30, 2007
It's opening night, and the Spurs just got their rings for winning their fourth championship. Today's Roy Bragg column suggested that San Antonio fans might be a bit jaded about the team, now that we have four championships.
I don't think so. I think that has to do with the season lasting for eight months, counting the playoffs. I don't see any lack of people wearing Spurs shirts around this town, nor bumper stickers or full back window treatments on the rear windshields of SUVs and pickup trucks. And a few of my colleagues just created a hilarious opening day video that's getting some attention around town.
It would seem that the NBA is officially recognizing the Spurs as a dynasty; today also saw the release of a 16-disc set of the four times the Spurs have reached and won the NBA Finals. This is an accolade normally reserved for teams like the Bulls, Lakers and Celtics.
It's a bit pricey for the casual fan, but I figure Spurs fanatics will be willing to shell out the $99.98 for these 16 games in their entirety, minus the commercials (and most of the irritating network promos).
Wait, 16 games? The 1999 series with the Knicks went five, the Nets in 2003 went six, and the 2005 series with the Pistons went seven. By my calculations, there are six missing games here. Ah, that's because the only games presented on these discs are the ones that the Spurs won.
I figure that the NBA and Warner Bros. didn't want to waste discs on games they thought the viewers wouldn't want to see. They're probably right, but some purists will take issue with that, I'm sure.
And considering that 2007's sweep of the Cavs was somewhat anti-climatic after the grueling six-game series with the Phoenix Suns, I hope they decide to release that series in the future. And that set should include the losing games. For most NBA fans, not just the Spurs but all, that was the real Finals.
There's no extras on the discs; you'll have to pick up the individual season championship sets for those. But I suppose you can play a drinking game; every time David Robinson appears in the stands during the final two series (Pistons and Cavs), take a drink. Every time Eva appears on the final series (Cavs), take two.
Update: The box set is now available on Amazon.com. And in response to Paul Ramirez; the 1999 championship video is only available on VHS, as far as I know. You can try to convice the NBA to re-release it, but I don't know if they'll listen. Good luck.

deepdiscount hasn't shipped my order yet, i haven't seen it at HEB, and I've seen no fan reviews posted online or even confirmation of fans getting it.
I wonder if the release date was blown and it's not really out there yet.

It's out. I saw them at best buy yesterday.

I bought it at best buy on Turesday... I had to ask for it and then they brought it up front to me, no display. As for the DVDs themselves, just like it says, the whole game, when there is extra coverage on tv like in championship clinching games it shows the trophy presentation and soforthe. I think it would have been better if they would have put together all the wins that were great games in the 4 playoff runs, ie Memorial Day Miracle, 03 comback agains Mavs in 4th quarter when Kerr hit all those 3 pointers, ect, ect... The cool part about it is watching the games in 99. It has been a while since that has happened and there are a lot of things you forget, plus I was lucky enough to be one of the 39,000+ in the alamodome for games 1 and 2 that year and I never saw those games on tv.
As the DVDs get older, each game will be better and better to watch, alot of this is still fresh on our minds so it is hard to realize how Great our team really is. I'm only 27 and when I am 50 and look back on the 4 championships we had this will mean something, Hopefully I will look back at 7 championships in the Duncan era
Overall, I say it is worth buying, if not for now, then the future.
Go Spurs Go,

I actually had the foresight to record all the games on DVD of this year's playoffs (incl all playoff series and the losses), so I didn't need to buy any boxed sets (except maybe the one championship DVD for the features and storyline). It helps when your team is a virtual lock to win it all at the start of the playoffs...

I did too.
I actually record every game.
Been doing it for years.
But I still buy the Championship disc, and I'll buy the box set.
I like the look of a complete collection.

You're right.
I should rephrase that.
I like to keep my collection up to date.
How's that? :)
