Alright so I put gas in my car last week and paid with my debit card using paypass, the day after it showed up in my pending transactions for the full amount on my online account summary. Sometime over the last week it just disappeared all together, no pending, no cleared transaction, just gone.

Do you think I managed to slip the system? thus sticking it to the man

It's happened on my Amex, and since I'm so picky about keeping my money reconciled everyday, I hated not having that $60+ gas transaction clear my card. My records were that amount off of my statement, so after a month or so, I deleted it from my records, so I could balance. Then later that week, it finally cleared. :pctoss

that's the way I am. I balance my checkbook and all that every morning when I first get into work (make sure I'm getting paid to do it haha), but I've never seen anything like this- appear then disappear that why I asked

what program do you use on your PDA? I have the Samsung Blackjack and would love a program to make me more anal about that than I already am

Pocket Keeper, it lets me categorize any entry I make, set up multiple accounts to transfer to and from. I can even get a complete report about my spending based on my category(and subcategory) entries. The only thing I wish it would do is allow multiple categories for 1 entry. Like when I shop, I'd like to be able to divide one $100 charge into separate categories(shoes/clothes/dvds).

I've also used TenderE with my old Treo, which did about the same stuff.

i once got a ten spot from an atm...only to have my monthly statement show up with a letter saying they know it happened and that it was deducted from my acct. fackers! but once i did slip a cc transaction. that like one in a million, only prob is that it was for some minuscule amount, like five and change...just my luck. :(

but my mommy says im a pretty man! :))

I got an extra $20 from an ATM once, and my bank never adjusted my account. I think the store/ATM owner just got screwed because his ATM malfunctioned.

The man always has ways to prevent things being stuck to him :/

He's grown smarter over the years. You have to be really creative and subtle to actually stick it to him nowadays.

It happened to me once.

Men's Express was having a clearance sale. Went there and spent $130, came out with 3 pairs of jeans, a couple shirts, a couple sweaters, and a nice belt.

The charge never showed up on my credit card. Wicked sweet free clothing.

In Chuck Klosterman's Fargo Rock City, he tells the story of his ATM account being messed up to where he kept getting thousands of dollars deposited into his account by computer error. He was like 17 years old so he spend like 5 grand on dumb shit like records and fast food. They eventually caught onto the problem. When they did he realized 2 things, he could get away with it b/c it was their error, and that his mom would kill him so he paid them back.

All of Klosterman's books are funny, but this story in particular is very funny
