Phoenix will be awarded the 2009 NBA All-Star Game.

NBA Commissioner David Stern and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon are scheduled to be at US Airways Center for an 8:30 a.m. Thursday news conference, which the league's media release says is a "major announcement" regarding the 2009 game.

Also set to attend, according to the release, are Suns Chairman Jerry Colangelo, Suns Vice Chairman Sam Garvin and Suns President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Steve Kerr.

New Orleans will host this season's game, Feb. 17, 2008.

Retributions for the suspensions?

I can't believe Stern would return to Phoenix so soon. If he thinks the local media is gonna avoid the subject he's dreaming.

I HEARD JERRY COLANGELO IS GOING TO BE RETIRED INTO THE ALL STAR GAME HALL OF FAME AS WELL

He was self promoting himself for the cause.

The top event of the weekend will be a roast of Bruce Bowen hosted by Amare.

Hopefully duncan, parker, and ginobili are "injured" that week.

The All Star Weekend isn't even watchable anymore.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure you're right. The Phoenix media is itching to ask David Stern about a correctly-enforced rule on one play out of a six game series, played almost two years ago, in a game Phoenix won just before losing a perfectly winnable game five at home.

In the grand scheme of things, that one play changed every fucking thing.

Let it go pig. It's the 08 season, quit dwelling on the past.

ASGs are always fun. If Chicago ever hosts one in the not-too-distant future, I'll be there. Or try to, anyway.

When All-Star Weekend is in your city it's the best. I was little when we had it '95 so i'm kinda hoping it will be in SA againg in the near future. Phoenix will enjoy it for sure!

The rodeo prevents that. Although they could use the Alamodome again.
