Headline: Due to the lack of a starting pitcher, the Spurs signed Josh Beckett
*I meant to post this here instead of the NBA forum

I saw on nba.com/spurs (spurs website), Josh Beckett recieved his own personalized Spurs jersey. Is he a Spurs fan or did they just bring him in because he dominated the MLB Playoffs?
Horry For 3!

I am assuming he is a Spurs fan. He is from Spring, TX.

Supposedly he moved to San Antonio recently. He was continuing his celebration at the game :drunk

He looks a little sloshed in the pic. If in fact he is a Spurs fan then that will actually make me like him a bit.

I remember him from when he dominated the 2003 World series for the Marlins. He was impossible to hit. Did it again for the BoSox, huh? I don't follow much baseball these days.
Just looked up his wiki:

Talk about a guy who learned to modify his game - the jump in his performance from 2006 to 2007 is remarkable.

he is a cool dude
I saw him at the Jasons Deli at 281 & 1604 a year or so ago, being a die-hard Sox fan I had to go up to him, and he said he was doing his off-season workouts here. I guess he likes it so much that he lives here now.

I'm a Yankees fan so I generally hate all things Boston, but Josh Beckett is the fucking man...he should've won the World Series MVP. If he's a Spurs fan, than that's cool. :hat

When the jersey was given to him last night, Stan Kelly said that Beckett is a Spurs season ticket holder.

In the continuing series of the "Avery Johnson Good Guys" jersey retirement, newly relocated Josh Beckett has his #19 raised into the rafters.
Next Home Game: John Scheider and his #01 from the General Lee

That's just his normal look.
COOL!! Dude's a great pitcher and was dominate during the playoffs. Didn't really care that much who won - would like to see a TX team get there sometimes and win one - yeah I know I'm dreaming - but it's nice to see that he is a Spurs fan and ticket holder.

The Spurs announced the signing of Josh Beckett today. "After shipping out Beno we realized that the locker room just didn't feel the same without a white guy who doesn't know how to play basketball," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Beckett came into the Terrace Club restaurant where I work. Half his party was already seated so he didn't stop by the host stand.
No big deal to me though seeing as before last night an hour before opening the restaurant, I had never heard of him. ( Sorry Jim!)
I did however have the pleasure of meeting the owner of HEB grocery store. Such a kind, grandpa like man!
Mr H.E.B. :) said I was pretty which made him a thousand times cooler than whatshisname the Red Sox guy. :)

In a move reflecting the increasing specialization of players in the NBA, Josh Beckett has been signed to throw the ball in on out-of-bounds plays during crunch time. To better catch a 90+ MPH basketball, the other Spurs players are trying out the newly marketed Adidas basketball gloves.

I have a buddy, one of those guys who seems to know everyone. He said Beckett's a cool guy and they go hunting together sometimes. I'll ask him next time I see him if he knows how big a Spurs' fan Beckett is.
