Very streaky. We found that out when he was Mavs. But I can't argue with his PO performances though, either in Dallas or here. He hit a lot of big shots for us this POs and last season PO.

don't ever compare my idol to Findog. Starks dunked over Jordan. That moment will be forever immortalized like the fall of the Berlin wall and the original Power Rangers movie.

Jordan dunked on Starks too. Not to mention won 6 rings, beating Starks on the way a few times.

Jordan - 3950789023580345723490578389045734

Starks - 1 dunk.

Mike needs to drive more to the basket like he used to in Dallas.

He didn't do much of that his last few years here. He doesn't like contact under the basket too much. Other than that, classy, classy guy.

John Starks at his peak:

93-94 season: 19 points on 42% shooting, 33% from 3-pt line, 6 assists, 3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Michael Finley at his peak:

99-00 season: 23 points on 46% shooting, 40% from 3-pt line, 5 assists, 6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Starks was decent, but Finley was clearly better.

Finley at his best was a fuckin monster. And he was a beast with virtually no help for quite a while. For several years he had to deal with a terrible, dysfuncional team, but was still great. By time Nash and Dirk came into their own, he was already past his prime, but his leadership was what still carried him and allowed him to still be a threat every night. Starks was nowhere close to being as good as Michael Finley. Finley also would have lasted a lot longer if his minutes were managed more. Look at this...

1997 - 41.4 MPG
1998 - 41.0 MPG
1999 - 42.2 MPG
2000 - 42.0 MPG
2001 - 39.9 MPG
2002 - 38.3 MPG
2003 - 38.6 MPG
2004 - 36.8 MPG

That's a lot of minutes, especially considering for all those 40+ minute seasons, he was hands down the #1 guy, and had virtually no consistent help until 2000, when Dirk and Nash started to break out.

Slash and Drive in , poor mans Manu style. you know.

He insists on shooting when he hasnt hit 4-5 in a row. go for layup, basket might get bigger after that.

I rarely see him drive to the basket any more. He will just shoot ala Starks, A. Walker, etc.

I know its the called play that dictates what he does but he never breaks defenses down when the spurs get stuck, he will insist on a chuck three.

He can be his own worst enemy on the court.

Spurs wont win or lose a championship based on Mike's play but he is a tremedous player still to be so inconsistent at times.

He has always been one of my favorite players since his Dallas days.

Mike is getting old, keep that in mind.
26/27/28 yr old Finley>34 yr old Finley.

I loved that emotion he would show after dunks, but he also did it in a respectful way, not in the faces of guys, or in a way that is cocky and self-centered, but more in a "love of the game" way.
