View Full Version : The Colts are in for a fight

I'm not surprised by the Chargers quick start. If anyone has played the Colts tough over the past few years it's the Chargers.
They were the team that dashed the Colts chance at an unbeaten season two years ago and lost a tough OT game in Indy the year before that.
Combine that with the poor weather conditions that Peyton has historically struggled with and you have the makings for an upset.

In all fairness, the Colts are without their best TE and WR so it's a lot easier for the Chargers to key on Addai and Reggie Wayne.

I give the Colts defense more props for keeping them in the game early when the Chargers could have been up as much as 35-0 after Peyton repeatedly gave the Chargers a short field with all of those picks.
They only gave up 1 defensive TD and that occurred after the Chargers only had to go about 35 yards. Otherwise, they picked off one pass and held the Chargers to a FG on another short field series.
The Chargers did play some great D, but were more bend than break in the second half.
I'm not worried too much about the Colts. This is the type of loss that could wake them up and make them more focused later on like last year after they hit some bumps in the road after a strong start.

first off, the New England Patriots were completely irrelevant to the discussion but somehow you found a way to shoehorn them in. Your obsession with me is fucking incredible.
I didn't "trash" the San Diego defense, I simply stated a fact - they nearly blew a 23 point lead. HOW THE FUCK IS THAT TRASHING THEM? I also pointed out that it might not even be the defense's fault because Philip Rivers was so godawful that Indy dominated T.O.P. and the SD defense was probably too tired to put up much of a fight in the 4th quarter. I even described the Chargers Defense as being "incredible" at the start of the game but apparently you can't fucking read you retarded piece of shit. So, again, where the fuck am I "trashing" the San Diego defense? I doubt even TSA would think I was "trashing" their defense you stupid ass motherfucker.
As far as New England's defense getting "lit up"......HOW IN THE FUCK is giving up only 20 points to the Colts being "lit up"? Then you mentioned getting lit up for 3 quarters....well fuckhead they only gave up 13 points in 3 quarters against the Colts. I'll take that ANY FUCKING DAY. You've gotta be a fucking idiot to not be happy with allowing only 20 points to the Colts, especially when you're the Patriots and Indy is about 10000000000000x more motivated to play you than any other team in the league.
And if anything, it was NE's solid defense in the 2nd half that bailed out the Patriots because they kept the team in the game long enough for Brady & the offense to finally break out in the 4th quarter.
Like I said, you're the biggest fucking idiot that posts in the NFL Forum, you have no clue what the hell you're talking about ever, and you seriously need to just fucking leave so that I don't have to take time to blow your faggot ass up like this constantly. I hope I wasn't too hard on you this time, I'd hate for you to be on another suicide watch.

The coaches (Dungy) did the right thing. The announcers (Madden) said the right thing.
Some how, I think that two Super Bowl winning coaches know a bit more about football than you ever will in 1,000 lifetimes.
Colts got supremely jewed by the inadvertent whistle on Sessions' 95 yard INT return, the booth review of the ball spot, and the simulated snap call. Good thing for the Colts is that their next two games are against the Chiefs and Falcons, and they have games against Houston, Baltimore, Oakland, and Jacksonville on the schedule. The only question mark game in my opinion is the Titans at home for Week 17, but we already beat them on the road.
You could blame Peyton or Vinatieri for this loss, but I blame Dungy. His timeout strategy sucked, he wasted one TO just to bitch at the officials, and he shouldn't have tried to draw SD offsides at the end and just kicked the FG. Oh the irony that Indy gets moved back 5 yards and Vinatieri barely misses the FG. Both teams played like shit, the real scoreboard should read SD Special Teams 2, IND Special Teams 0.
Manning did a good job working with what he had, but he has to hope Harrison and Clark come back next week. He threw 2 passes that either Reggie, Marvin or Dallas would have caught but he wasn't used to working with 3rd stringers and he overthrew them by a step or two. But if his WRs had been a little faster with their route, they would have taken those two passes to the house.

The game winning FG was barely wide right, 5 yards closer and it would have been good. Dungy was a pussy because he didn't want to kick off to Darren Sproles again, he wanted to kick that FG as time expired. Yeah, Manning threw 6 picks but SD failed to convert 5 of them into points. So yes, I do blame Dungy, because the Colts defense had only given up 10 points all game and I don't think Philip Rivers is the guy you want running a 1:30 drill to win the game, especially with no timeouts.

There were so many things wrong with that game, that it's almost impossible to pinpoint the worst thing.
I definitely wouldn't let Manning off the hook. There are a lot of injuries on this team, and that sucks...and yes, some of those calls totally sucked...
But the truth is, there's more than enough blame (within the team) to go around this week.
Let's hope they pull their heads out of their butts long enough to play like they know how next week because this week was an absolute embarrassment. :(
Six interceptions and a 28-yard vs. a 23-yard FG and it's the coach's fault.
GMAFB.

6 INTs and only one was converted to a TD drive? You're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, because SD sure did an AWESOME job of turning that overwhelming giveaway/takeaway ratio into scores.
The potential GW field goal was BARELY wide right. Dungy was clearly afraid of having to kick off to Darren Sproles with the game on the line and wanted that offsides, which would have given them 1st down, to run the clock down to a few seconds and then kick the FG. Either way, you're looking at a FG of 23 yards at the least. If the 28 yarder was barely wide right, the 23 or shorter FG would have been good. You could blame Vinatieri, but with the wideouts he had to work with that loss is clearly not on Peyton Manning's shoulders.

Perhaps if those interceptions hadn't been thrown, the Colts might have scored in the first three quarters, and obviated the need to make a fourth-quarter comeback.
Crazy idea, I know, but it might just work.
The line of thinking you're espousing sounds like something from Rex Grossman's PR agent. "Interceptions are okay as long as the other team doesn't score on them."
And I'd like to see the stats on the difference between a 23 and a 28-yard FG. To blame that on a coaching decision is massively weak.

No, what's weak is not trusting your team to hold on to the lead with 1:30 left in the game. Which is in essence exactly what Dungy did by trying to draw the Chargers offsides to get the necessary first down, enabling them to run more clock seeing how SD had no timeouts. Five yards closer and that FG isn't wide right. If you're trying to get me to admit Vinatieri should've made the 28 yarder, yeah, he should've, but if he kicks that same ball from 23, the FG is good. Thank you, Tony Dungy.
And I am definitely not saying interceptions are okay if they don't give the other team points, but you're line of reasoning saying the loss is on Manning is equally as weak especially in light of how hard he fought to rectify those first five picks. He was working with Reggie Wayne and the Third String Stragglers, three of those picks were picked off 100% because he was throwing those passes as if he expected Harrison or Clark to be there. As soon as he found a rhythm, he was pretty damn good, it just took him 5 picks to adjust to his receivers. Peyton could have gift wrapped the Chargers five touchdowns, and they did dick with four of those five picks.

First, I didn't say the loss was on Manning. I said that blaming Dungy for Manning and Vinatieri's failure to execute was asinine.
Second, you want to give Manning credit for "fighting to rectify those five picks" (try saying that out loud without busting a gut), like that's some kind of virtue unique to Peyton Manning.
Third, Manning had nothing to do with how many points San Diego scores those five interceptions. So if the Chargers had converted those into 30 points, only then would Manning have to take some blame? Or does that get twisted into Dungy's fault, too?
Fourth, you've got to be the first person in the history of professional football to insist that the reason a guy blew a 28-yard field goal was because his coach cost him 5 yards. Sounds like something Mike Vanderjagt would say.
Maybe Dungy should find another team if he's not appreciated. Since, you know, the Colts and Peyton Manning did so well without him.

Dungy was a pussy because he didn't want to kick off to Darren Sproles again, he wanted to kick that FG as time expired.
Did you even notice what Sproles did to the Colts??
Fuck, any coach would have done the same thing. Why gamble when you've got a clutch kicker on your team??
It's all on Vinaterri, and the Special Teams.
