What in the world is going on over at the Rockets. Adleman just put Aaron Brooks on the active list. Francis flew to Memphis and then flew back home. Official report says "personal family problem" excused absence.

Francis maybe asking for a trade or waived if this continues.

Before the season started, someone on the local news asked Adleman about Franchise, and he said that he didn't like the way he fit into the rotation. I think it was pretty weird to hear a coach say that on local TV, probably didn't help him with Franchise anyways.

dude is a ballhog though

but if his waived, i dont want him near mavs, or suns...he will just provide more energy of the bench which i think will hurt our bench when the scrubs come into play the starting 5 stat padders

If Francis is a no-go with the Rox; what is all the hype over there?

Scola?

Butler?

What is SO different from last year to make them contenders?

Adelman?

Not exactly a playoff over-achiever.

I don't get it. A couple of years ago...Franchise was considered a top 10-15 point guard in this league. Now he can barely get off the bench from the same team he used to be a starter at. Why wasn't he getting playing time in Houston? I would think he'd be a better starter than Rafar Alston!!

There is a really good chance if he ends up getting traded or waived that he ends up in Dallas. Avery Johnson loves this guy and called him an edgy guard.

i thought he was always overrated... a chucker and was undeserving of all those all star starts.

Apparently, Steve will only be placed on the inactive list for the one game. He's supposed to be back on the active list the next game. Still doesn't smell right. Where there is smoke there is fire.

I can't believe Skip To My Lou may be responsible for cutting yet another person this season.

Did you already forget what Bonzi did to the Spurs last Tuesday.
Bonzi is essentially a new player b/c last year he was in steve franchise's current position--inactive/doghouse.
Bonzi Wells added 14 points and 15 rebounds for Houston, which controlled Duncan and outrebounded the sluggish Spurs 55-28. Duncan scored 14 and grabbed 10 rebounds, but went only 5-for-15 from the field.

Plus Mike James, and Scola--yes, scola and Adelman too. And they only gave up Juwana-manHoward. Aaron Brooks for the future.

adelman is dumb. francis may not be perfect, but he's better than fucking rafer alston and mike james.

Why are people so high on him? Dude's a career 43% shooter, 34% from beyond the arc. In his best year, he was 45% shooter. That's not good for a point guard known primarily to be a shoot-first guard.

People look at his ppg and become mystified. He isn't that good. That fact that he was even considered among the league's best point guards during his tenure at Houston shows the dearth of quality point guards in the post-1998 era.

wow politics as usual in the NBA

francis is way better than any PG in the ROckets

he can play with mcgrady and yao

thats like the lakers of 04, with malone, payton, etc.

does not make sense

I hope he goes to a team that needs a PG like Sacramento or even the Clippers to get back with Mobley

That's still an upgrade over Alston who is shooting 32 percent and James at about 34 percent.

The reason steve is not playing because it was coach decision.DNP-CD.

Not if he is out of shape and can't run the floor.

Francis is not out of shape. Bonzi Wells last year was out of shape.

"He did come into camp not in the shape the other guys were in," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said.

The shape in which Francis arrived was somewhat round. He took his shirt off after practice Saturday and joked that he has an eight-pack of abs, instead of a six-pack.
It's not as if he has a disgusting, fat body, or worse, is a Banana Split Bonzi circa 2006. (And lucky for Francis that Gunnery Sgt. Van Gundy isn't still the head coach.) But Francis, who signed with the Rockets this summer, didn't show up ready for battle.

After not playing much last year with the Knicks (44 games), and knowing the Rockets were overstocked at point guard, he should have come to camp prepared to compete for playing time.

Instead, he came to camp looking to play his way into shape. Adelman hasn't allowed him to play enough for that to happen.

Francis is locker room cancer wherever he goes. He knows exactly how to destroy chemistry. It wouldn't surprise me if Francis manages to implode on the Rockets during the season. In fact, I say that it has already begin.

“That is going to be tough, that will be real tough for me,” Francis said. “If that’s the case, then I don’t know. I definitely didn’t come here not to play at all. Hopefully we can work something out.”
Asked what sorts of options he might have, Francis said, “I don’t know. I can’t say.”

"But not to be in the rotation, to me I don't think that's what I'm looking for," he said. "If that's the case, I'd have to do something."

That's not what you are looking for? How about what the team is looking for? How about you show up to training camp in shape so you can be happy and the team can be happy? But, as always, Francis looks out for Numero Uno. He's always been this way. Ever since he demanded a trade from the Grizzlies amidst a crying speech on draft night.

Plus, the man has the ego the size of Texas.

"There's not really a (chink) in my armor," he said. "I just think it's more of getting out there and getting a chance to get on the court and play. To me, that's the most important thing, getting minutes and getting out there to play."
Seriously? No chink? How about increasing that FG%. It's never been above 45%, is at a career 43%, and was down as low as 40% last year.

The worst thing the Rockets could have done this summer was to pick up Steve Francis.

Freaking every single player on the Rockets roster played tonight except for Steve Francis. Ok now this is completely blatent now. Adleman has put Francis in the doghouse and buried him. What a freaking moron!!!

Steve Francis started the second quarter, his long-awaited debut with the Rockets. Francis signed a two-year deal in July, but had been relegated to the bench since the season began, the third-string point guard behind Rafer Alston and Mike James.

The fans cheered when Francis brought the ball up the court for the first time and they gasped when he drove the basket and took a hard foul from Boris Diaw. Francis sank two free throws with 10:32 left in the half to cut Houston's deficit to 41-35.
