I find that I don't really care about our overall record or the teams we beat until after the rodeo road trip. Until then it's more about the team gelling and playing together fluidly...and peaking into the postseason.

Of course, a humiliating victory over an arch rival (ie, Lakers or Jazz) is always a huge plus, even if it is November. So I'll definitely take a win over those clutch-less scrubs in Dallas, but I'm hardly hanging my hat on this game as a "do or die" effort.

Who we play first?
If we play .allas first, we go 2-0 vs. them and Houston.
If we play Houston first, we beat them and lose to .allas.

After seeing the way the Mavericks "stepped up the intensity" to allow Golden State to score 61 points in the first half (without Jack), I'm not particularly concerned.

Check the definition of humilliation in the dictionary and you will find the words "Dallas Mavericks".

1. The 1st seed Dallas Mavericks lost to the 8 seed GS Warriors. Humilliating!

2. After being ahead by two games, the 2006 Dallas Maevericks lost four in a row and were humilliated by Miami.

While your stats may be accurate, it's important to realize and understand that the Spurs have in fact fallen short of their goals in the past. Just as we all have as human beings.

In summary, don't flaunt others short comings in an attempt to make yourself look and feel better. Because at the end of the day, we've all failed before and we'll all most certainly fail again in the future.

Good luck to both teams!

I can't wait to see how we match up now that we can play Bowen and Udoka at the same time.

I don't think Udoka is in much of a position to play competitive minutes against Dallas. He doesn't know the system hardly at all yet and is pretty far away from finding his groove. Hopefully near the end of the regular season he will seriously start to click and know his role. Until then I don't think we'll see our theory of a Udoka/Bowen lineup realized. And even if we do, Udoka will hardly be in fighting form.

So we shouldn't flaunt the fact that in the past decade we've brought home four championships? And in the one year the Mavs actually had a shot at doing the same, they pissed it away on a sub-par Miami team.

You seriously don't understand what drives the passion behind professional sports. Don't get all philosophic on us just because your team can't close the deal.

I could care less if the Mavs win or lose. I'll watch them and enjoy the game, regardless of the outcome. Isn't that the true meaning of being a fan? Unconditional support and favortism? We don't typically run away because we know it's the regular season and doesn't mean a thing. We'd like to win them all, but even the best team still lost over 10 games. Remember, we lost both of our regular season games last year to Cleveland but swept them in the finals. Obviously the regular season made a big difference.

So yea, if we lose by 19 I'll be here. But if you lose by 5 will you?

PS: Is the game in Dallas or SA?

You all forget who beat who the last time both teams met in the playoffs. Don't try to act like you weren't happy when Golden State got their fluke once-in-a-lifetime playoff victory over Dallas last year. You guys wanted nothing to do with Dallas, especially since they would have had homecourt advantage.

Yeah, they choked against Miami. Live and learn is all I gotta say to that. It won't happen when we make the finals this year. Avery will have them ready for whoever comes out of the east.

Dream on about the finals. Teams that are close to ascending to greatness NEVER i repeat NEVER lose in the 1st rd of the playoffs. No Tim Duncan led Spurs team has ever bowed out that disgracefully, no more be a 1 seed and get smoked by an 8 seed, and Dirk is the main reason they lost.

Mavs are going to be like the Kings were a few years ago. Very good, close but no cigar. :hat

I had no idea it was a Spurs World and we're all just living in it. Why even bother if it's guaranteed SA is going to win it every year? Seriously, someone inform the NBA that every other team needs to just fold up shop to hand over the trophy to the Spurs until management sees fit to let someone else shoot for it. Heaven for-fucking-bid we don't rely on the past to determine the future.

No, fuckhat, but I also don't think that you take into consideration past successes when two teams meet in new seasons. I don't know what the outcome will be. I know Pop won't show his colors. He isn't going to throw a playoff type lineup in there at any point against the Mavs, consider it respect if you want. But if it causes a loss then so be it. Just know the Spurs take these games not only to try to win, same time not giving info or budging from the perch at all.

Not an excuse to lose though. But I wouldn't have it any other way this early in the year.

You only cakewalked because you were lucky enough to avoid us. Checked your record against us lately?

Yes, i ride the short bus to my special education class where i try to teach Spurs Fans like you how to understand why the Mavs keep beating them over the last couple of years.

We wouldn't have beaten them last year. We beat them by the thinnest of margins in 2006, and we would've been without Dampier and his six fouls. He's overpaid and pretty mediocre, but he avoids having to risk getting Dirk into foul trouble guarding opposing bigs.

We do match up well against them, better than any other team in the League, and we've won 8 of the last 12 games, but we don't dominate them.

I'm so thankful for that. I don't want those fuckers leapfrogging us to a title. Please do it again this year, because as crazy as it sounds, I'd rather play the Spurs than the Suns due to matchups.

I don't watch Mav games to often. In fact the last one I saw they were having trouble with beating The Warriors, who were down a man.

:clap :clap :clap DAMN FUCKING STRAIGHT! FUCK THE SPURS! COME THURSDAY THEY GET A REALITY CHECK THAT THE MAVS ARE STILL A MATCHUP NIGHTMARE FOR THEM!!!! LETS GO MAVS! LETS GO MAVS! LETS GO MAVS! :clap :clap :clap :elephant :elephant :elephant :downspin: :toast

Holy hell...if this doesn't capture the circus-like cluster that the American Airlines Center is, I don't know what does.

btw...don't expect any team to bat an eye this year when you beat them in the regular season. The ultimate "boy-who-cried-wolf" story...

I wonder if after Thursday's loss by 19 points if you so called Spur fans will still be around to eat your crow!

Probably not wise to talk about eating crow as a Mavs fan (please see last two post seasons)

Just a thought :lol

Why, God, why?

So much shit-talking and back and forth at the 10% mark of the season.

Because there are many real Spur fans who waited months for the NBA season to finally start and maybe get excited about an old fashion Texas shoot out like the Mavs vs Spurs!

and then there are fans like yourself who wait till the last minute of the second round of the playoffs to make sure the Spurs are moving froward to the next round in order to put that cheesy Spurs flag on your rusty car antenna before they really show any true support for the Spurs?
that is why!
it really has nothing to do with God.

Spurs > Mavs.

Sure it is a DUH statement, but it will become even more evident and DUH after Thursday night.

be careful, Dallas Mavericks.

#8 is your unlucky Number.

And one of our lucky numbers last yr.

-You got beaten by 8th-seeded in the first round

-the Spurs become the 8th team to sweep their opponent (the Cavs), in the NBA finals.

-and this time the Spurs are looking forward to their
8th season win.

who knows we might get lucky again. :flag:

I am not sure Mr. duncan228 what you did to get not one, but two Spurs under your name but I do hope one of the spurs under your name is for showing up after a loss to the Dallas Mavericks. I guess we will see after tonight!

The best part is, if the Mavs win, a good portion of the Spurs fans here talking about how the "regular season doesn't matter" will be in full meltdown mode.

Likewise, if the Spurs win, Spurs fans will ensue massive shit talking toward the Mavs, despite their prior claims that the game "Doesn't matter".

San Antonio--Embodying Hypocrisy since 1973.

That hypocrisy goes both ways. I have been here for Spurs wins over Dallas and many Mavs fans dropped the "its just one game" or "its the regular season" cards. Its not just limited to Mavs and Spurs fans either, many fans from different teams do the same thing...its kind of a universal cop out.
